Yeah same thing I thought, alright thanks.I dont see why it would be illegal. just keep them unloaded and if you have a lock on your safe then keep them locked up and there should be no issues. I am a legal grower and i have guns and i even sleep with my pistol in arms reach next to my bed since there are no children or anything like that around. i would be fighting hard if i was arrested for having a gun and growing marijuana because i have had guns long before i started growing. i really wouldnt worry if i was you just keep them locked up, especially if you have some ar-15's or other assault type rifles, im sure if you have some of those just laying around you may be frowned upon.
i suggest you get those hunting guns out of your house ASAP.
i suggest you quit hunting all together.
game wardens can and will search your property without a warrant to uphold hunting regulations. if your suspected of growing weed, and the police see you have registered hunting rifles, they'll just show up with the game warden under the guise he's making sure you haven't poached anything.
REPEAT: the whole hunting lifestyle and growing marijuana are not a good idea simply because game wardens can and will search without a warrant. in San Marcos texas it's customary for cops to show up at suspected drug houses with a game warden just so a search can be conducted without a warrant.
you've been warned.
game wardens are allowed by law to check any place where food may be stored. coolers and stuff. laws in most states are written in such vague terms that a game warden doesn't need consent.
he can walk into your property and start searching for the fun of it, and file a legal report to the police. it's an unknown and commonly used ploy by LEO's to search your shit without consent.
the spirit of the law is to avoid poaching. in practice it's used to gather evidence in cases that have nothing to do with hunting. and the search is considered legal.
google it. you'll find different points of view, but the general consensus is that game wardens can search your stuff(the definition of how far they can go is vague) without a warrant, and without consent.
