Led's vs. HPS

I saw some videos on youtube where people were using led light on their plants instead of HPS lighting. The wattages on the led's were around 60 watts vs. hps lights that start around 400 watts and up. What are the advantages between the two styles of lights? Do the led's work as well? Are the led's more cost efficent because of the lower wattage? Please give me some feedback, I have a big desicion to make and I have to make it within the next month. Thanks for the help.

LEDs are not in the same league as HPS. HPS wins by a mile, followed by CFL.

If you want a good grow, use HPS. If you want a fairly good grow on the cheap, use CFL. If you want to get ripped off, LEDs are the way to go.

Thanks for the input Nocturn3. I have been planning on a 400 watts hps but saw the LED videos and thought I might need to at least ask someone in the know. I don't care to throw good money away.

i did. i bought a 900led panel and saw first had accounts of what it could do. if anything a weak cfl. so i upgraded to a hps and wow. never turned back.
