LEds or CFLs??? which is better??

how much you got to spend? leds cost more but are pritty good from what i hear and the create less heat..........how big is your grow space?
 
CFL's cost more then half then the LED lights..
depends on your budget..

most CFL growers use them because they cost less then HPS and use lesser watts then them.
Most LED lights are trying to compete with the HPS, and they cost just as much if not more.
 
If you have a little extra cash go with some leds I have a 300w chinese panel and just bought a blackstar 240w for 250 free shipping suppose to be really good lights check them out on ebay or at gotham hydroponics. Also if you want to see some great results with leds check out the Indoor Growing section and click the Led Users Unite thread all tons of great info in there alot of guys are using the blackstars and getting good results so far .... I have mine coming in the mail next week

not sure why LED users would be trying to "compete" with HPS... HPS is better for larger spaces as it creates more heat. we run HPS, but if we were in a closet space and had extra budget money, we'd totally run LED over CFL
 
my bad dbst, just re-read... maybe the lights themselves are trying to compete... but who are they really kidding. ed suggests using LED in conjunction with HPS to increase your spectrum (but then again ed often suggests spending more money on things than may be necessary...)
 
Well for tight spaced LED is the key theres a grow on thc farmer where a guy using a single 345 penetrator by hygroled pulled just shy of 2 pounds of weed off 345watts of led that is just incredible also look up irishboy on here hes doing the same with some ISIS120w panels LED's are definitely the way to go if you have the money.... but there getting cheaper soon HPS will be a thing of the past....

2 pounds off a 345w LED? Give me a link that sounds WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too good to be true. Over 2.5 grams per watt? Irishboy did great with some great LED panels but I've never heard of anyone getting 2.5 grams per watt with any kind of lighting.

well thanks for all the info fellas... im thinking blackstar for the cost but i have some extra cash flow so maybe pro-source jumbo ufo??
 
no ones posted pic using a black star 240w or any blackstar, or at least that i could find makes me wonder ????
 
Hey man go with the blackstar check out the thread under indoor growing called led users unite! I think a guy has a pic of some seriously frosty buds its the same unit I have go check it out that blackstar has the penetration you need! !
 
CFLs would be the better option, it will cost less for the lighting and you can put some money into good ventilation.

you can have 340w of CFLs (4 bulbs w/ sockets) for less than $120. :)
 
In my experience, LEDs have way more intensity than CFLs, but they are expensive. For the same money, you could get HPS, and that works better than CFL and LED.

watt for watt HPS and MH are no longer superior to LED there are lights out there that grow better now

Oh I can believe 1 pound much more easily than I can 2 pounds.
 
wow... guys i really appreciate all the help.... +++...... led is my route. just cuz of the low heat but i will deff add some supplemental cfls. I average 3.5oz a plant with 10 23w cfls per plant or some what. Just wanna try this new led idea for stealth purposes...plus that's too many cfls if i wanna a slightly bigger grow
