Led vs HPS growing

....... By all means continue testing lights but lets see a Voloya or something maybe? Its in line with all youre saying and they actually do real reasearch behind it, if this is not just for favors as you say, id say Valoya would be the logic goto, especially since its something nobody around here ever seen, right?

i realize this all might sound right preachy from someone who dont post plants or runs a big grow like you, im just about a friendly but somewhat critical advice to you and anyone involved in this yearlong thing, lets drop it and lets get back to business, this is almost on every thread by now and were all able to get over whatever "internet feelings" had their feather rustled.

ps: very nice lettuce!
I ponder on the valoya solray/canna+ and NS1. The finish might not match with all the lights he is currently running (valoya=lot of blue). Still, would be interesting to see a side by side.

Maybe some diy high cri product would make for a good side by side. The Aussie outfits have interesting stuff.

Are you both still on slow mo?

Richard D. Just switched to LED in his flower room. Very interested to follow his grow and see how it goes. He's a top shelf organic grower so there should be some good info on soil growing along the way.
I'm getting closer to making the switch, maybe next summer. He went with cobs, I'm thinking of going with strips.
Here's the link to his grow.

I've checked into them. $420 a bar for Phillips diodes & mini-no name (not that i could get) driver attached to bar. Not a feasible solution.

Where am I

Well, it's 4,550 w of light which should equal out to about 40 amps on 110. Running 220 so it's half that, only 20 amps. My electric bill is about 2/3's what it used to be running all hps (7,200-8,000w), if it were'nt for the electric comp. taxing an outrages 53% more up from 36% over the past year. Re-Fuckin-Dick. So, it gets higher each time it seams.
Crooks I tell ya, straight crooks.
Those harvests were bigger, although my normal led set-up (SunCloak & Amares) should be capable of matching that based on trial runs.
Just haven't met my quota in awhile & am trying to narrow down the problems.
Switched back to Tap water (first time here @ this opp) easing back on the new nute line, installed the mini-split, & quite using a systemic PM preventative & went topical w/ oil. Also comparing lighting as you see here.
Nice to see a comparison grow. I ran the AMARE 450 against my 600 watt HPS when I first got it. The AMARE outperformed the HPS. Have never turned back to HPS. I just added the AMARE BAR 6 and the ladies are just loving it. Have it in my 5 x 5 and it covers all the way to the corners. AHH.. the dread PM. I hit my room with PRO KURE (gas) then sprayed everything down with STAR SAN. The knock out was the Ozone generator. I found out that once a plant gets infected you just either toss it or spray a topical. Thought about a systemic but I was worried about residue. I also picked up some potassium chloride and Listerine and mixed them. Store bought stuff was BONIDE copper sulfate. It seems to keep it in check. Never had PM before still unsure how it got in there. Once I get this run done going to super clean again and go to seeds to finally get rid of it (I hope).

yeah if anything then the UVB from high K MH lamps may have some filtration done, but only direct exposure helps here a bit
And 9 times out of 10 PM is caused by enviromental triggers or contamination issues from your clothes and/or hair and skin carrying in spores... it will come and be a menace no matter what lights you use if you are not aware of it and prepared for it and premptively take steps towards preventing it.

well, these spores are everywhere in your air anyway and the best way to deal with them is to shoot them down while they are still en route to your plants.... aggressive radiation can kill alot of pests, too, not just some mold spores.
But I wouldn't use MH lamps as a preventive against a single problem (which I never had) but for a number of things unrelated...

I feel it is almost impossible for a home grower to keep spores out of a room. Even the large industrial grows can't completely stop spores from entering a room.

Best way to avoid PM IMO is environment, very healthy plants and strains that are resistant. A new grower or someone that can't figure it out should start with strains that are resistant.

100% agree with every word

Not sure how old this thread is but just saw the title. But if you are still looking for something to compare to, here's a few pictures of some mix 3000k 561c diode LEDs and 3500lm301h mix (I've tried a shitload of different LED temp combinations almost everything you can think of in the old school 561c diodes mixed with the new 301 h with the added 630 and 730nm imo is the best combination to get killer results, these are all without running ant additional co2, still took advantage of the ambient CO2 level I just moved the 10 out into my living room where me and my dog hang out most of the time LOL I do run CO2 in three of my other gardens but you do not need to spend a bunch of money on CO2 to be able to produce giant dense buds. And also imo, it's far easier to grow proper dense nugs with the new led tech then it was with HID just for the simple reason it's far easier to afford to give your garden proper lighting and coverage.. after being reluctant to make the jump into LEDs since doing so, getting the results I fought to get before is a breeze.IMG_20200721_174917512.jpg
