led ufo - ebay

hi, So I bought an apollo ufo light off of amazon. 180w model. I'm 3 weeks into veg and using nypd seeds from nirvana. Results are ok. I think that the coverage is good. I have 2 plants in a small grow box about 40" tall and 24" wide 15" deep. The big benefit to me was the temps are way down from using 6 42w cfls on my last grow. I do have a fan pulling air out but temps were in the 90's with cfls and now at about 81F.
Only issue I have is in my limited space I have to scrog and keep plants away from light as I got light burn on one of the tops that was about 8" from the light. It's very intense light. I'd say 12-14" is where I am having best results and the plants are happiest so far. I am going to be going 12/12 tomorrow and I'll see how flowering does. I see posts where people who don't use led are talking smack and telling people to put the light as close as possible to plants, I found for me this is wrong. They will light bleach and light burn. I hope this helps you in your decision. I don't have much experience with any other light like hps but for a small grow its so far so good.

Hello, need help about this LED ufo,

http://www.ebay.com/itm/321425956280?

Anyone have any expirience with this panel or something similar?
Would this work for one plant?
If yes what wattage?
Don't do that. Please . Do this.

IMHO most UFOs blow, and that one looks as lame as any. Apollos are hit or miss, so it's buyer beware. Keep a good environment and they do seem to last though. CREE bulbs and spots work better than all UFOs I've seen. That's my .02. Good Luck.

Yea i dont doubt in LEDs, they are really good heck am using led 50w flood light + CFLs as supplement and there is results.
But thing is i whant to replace that CFLs supplement with some LED full spectrum as supplement as they are really good spectrum. So am worried about that chinese LEDs?

I found this LED

Anyone came across this one?

CREE Warm Whites and Cool Whites combine good spectrum with great intensity and your plants will love them. They do get warm but not hot like CFLs. Budget panels tend to run hot because of inefficient diodes and poor design. So if heat is your biggest problem you need to steer clear of most Chinese panels. And Prakasa is not considered a very good alternative. Lots of broken panels from them.

Thanks for notice :)

I wouldn't necessarily say steer clear of Chinese panels. China is the biggest manufacturer of LEDs. Even American made panels have LEDs that come from china. Google top rated LED grow panels. Better safe than sorry

^^^Talking about stuff built by the Chinese using Chinese parts and labor practices, not stuff built for foreign markets by the Chinese. Search here for the percentage of busted budget grow lights produced by one of the thousands of factories in China compared to panels made using American, German, Taiwanese or Japanese tech. There's a difference. Better (Glowing) Red Than Dead in the LED world you could say :).

Hmm i found this charts for some warm and cool white leds.

If this measurements are correct than 2700/6500 kelvin LEDs are more than enough for vege and flowering?

I had a R+B 90W UFO break on me once a few years ago. Didn't even remember until now. I was using it to supplement HPS at the time, so it was hard to notice that half the panel was out.

After opening it for repair, I decided to retire it. What a safety hazard.... The wire from the broken segment somehow ripped it's epoxy bead off and was just hanging loose between the pcb, and aluminum plate, and some sheet of resistant liner.

Even though the PCB and aluminum plate were 2 separate parts, each led was epoxied to the aluminum plate. I'm not even sure how they managed to put the unit together... Probably putting a bead of epoxy on each led base, then pressing the aluminum plate over the top...

tl;dr, UFO are built like shit. Any number of things could result in catastrophic failure, whether it be a short, or the fans going out (no fins on the plate).

If my vero fan stops working, it will not get hot enough to destroy the LEDs, or hot enough to burn my house down.
