Led lighting for a 36W x 18D space cabinet?

Hey guys, I'm looking to start moving into a metal storage cabinet and was wondering about how much led light I should consider getting? Would 300 to 400W be enough as it seems to be? I was planning on getting the "BXEB-L0560Z-35E2000-C-B3" to light it up and run them at 1400A with a undetermined meanwell driver. I'm hoping to build a cab setup that is secure and size manageable but large enough to try for about 4 maybe 5 ounces is possible. I'm used to a closet and hps so moving into a cab is somewhat new territory that I've been putting off for too long.

I was thinking about this cab.

I'd appreciate feedback to see if my expectation are possible or other suggestions that maybe a better fit.

If you're only going to illuminate a 5 sq ft space, I'd shoot for about 175w of power from those strips. 12 of those strips mounted to the base of a 24x18 aluminum baking tray would crush that space. Simple oscillating fan in the grow space will provide enough air circulation to keep light from getting too hot. I'd run a Meanwell HLG-185H-24B wiring all of the strips in parallel with a 100k dimmer pot mounted to the edge of the pan. Less than a couple of bills and an afternoon to build a state of the art fixture. Yes, at 4.5 square feet, 175 is probably right where you want your upper limit to be. That's almost 40w sq/ft, which is just right if your plants want that little extra push. A lot of QB/COB/strip growers shoot for 30w sq/ft, but it's nice to have headroom if you need it.

Put 9x of those BXEB 560mm on that Hlg-185-1050....Ive grown some surprisingly large bushes with just one panel like that....same driver.

With the Hlg-185-1050 driver that's going to run them at 1A correct...so that's about 20W per strip? Since the vendor only shows the watt for 700a it's a guess. 20 watt a strip with 9 strips is 180 watt total...is that your setup? One concern I have is that it's really pushing the driver to it's max...is that something to be concerned about as I see a lot of people saying you should run them at about half to 3/4 load?

Ive had two of the very same HLG 185 1050s, running 8 BXEB Gen 1 3500k 560mm strips, which are held together by a sheet of 2'x2' aluminum flashing, for over a year.....They draw 217w each measured on a kill-a-watt and only lose 1 volt from cold startup to full operating temp..... MW drivers tend to out-push their on paper ratings.....
The gen 2s have a slightly lower forward voltage, so you can get that 9th strip on the same driver.....
19.5v x 1050ma= 20.475W per stips (roughly) but like I said the MWs tend to push a bit more than rated....
I get 50K+, Lux readings at about 8" from the emitters....Plenty of light for that space.

I ran 7 strips in a 2ft by 2 ft closet at 700 ma and the yield on a white widow (112 watts from the wall measured) and the yield was the same as I got from a 150 watt HPS so 14 strips at 700ma should work good and require no cooling. just a simple frame to mount them to.I got 3 ounces from a white widow with 112 watts so twice the area (2ft by 2ft) should easily give you the 4 or 5 ounces you're looking for you could build a simple driver using a bridge rectifier and 1000uf 200 volt electrolytic capacitor to convert 120volt ac into 160 volt DC and 2 317 based current limiters to drive 14 strips. (7 strips per 317 regulator) I used this circuit to drive my 7 strip test light. I am an MMJ PU T5 growers but I like doing test grows with LEDs so see what they can do

Thanks for taking time to share and offer your input. Since I already have the driver I'll just use it and I think the meanwell driver is better than anything I could rig up. Your harvest numbers give me hope. What method of growing did you use..lst or topping etc?

I topped after 4 weeks from seed and switched to flowering (18/6 veg 12/12 flowering) aft 8 weeks from seed.a long veg time and topping really improves yield. hope this was helpful

How did you attach them to the pan, did you use screws? Did you use any thermal past?
