If you can not afford a par meter you might want to invest in a lux meter to get accurate readings. They are about $30 dollars on Amazon. That is what I did before I bought a par meter.

I broke down and bought the photobio par meter, it completely changed the game for me. I've only tried a handful of autos but IME they don't seem to like much light or food.

My issue I believe was if I turn the dimmer from 1-5 I get a different par then if I turn it from 10-5. And then whose to say dimmers from light to light are calibrated to be identical? I also have ir diodes sprinkled in that seemed to burn shit? I followed advice to hang 27" at start of flower and use par meter to adjust dimmer to specific par and I had immediate results, the plants love it. By the end of flower I'm at about 12" 900 par.
