LED Gurus please help.

I currently have a 300w viparspectra in my stealth grow cabinet. (Dimensions: 15”w x 26.5”d x 50”h)
But the efficiency is trash, and it produces a pretty good amount of heat. I used this light to veg and flower, so if possible I’d like the new to do the same.

I’m sold on upgrading to a new light, hopefully that produces less heat. preferably HLG. But with my limited vertical room, I’d imagine it will have to be dimmable. I know absolutely nothing about LEDs when it comes to assembly, what drivers or what to look for, so if anyone could help point me in the right direction I’d greatly appreciate it.

I believe HLG is pretty reputable, and I'm sure If you contact customer support you both can tailor a light for your needs, and then you can purchase right then & there. Good luck on the new grow. Keep us posted.

I started with COBs. HLG driver.

First set numbered 6 pods. Then 8 and finishing with 10 pods. The chips I use are 54volt. 3000 color temp from seed to harvest.

HLG has two types of drivers. Internal dimming. Which has a tiny plastic screw in a hole on the driver that's the dimmer. The other type is external. You install a dimmer knob on some protruding wires.

As for height. Understand LEDs don't have much penetration. They maintain a certain lux at a certain height. Things like SCROG keep the plant flat enough to best use the blanket of light a LED gives off.

As for heat. If outside temps are above 76°f. The lights themselves can heat the grow room to about 83°. Anything below an outside temp of 76-77°. You'll need a heater to maintain the leaf surface temperature range of 72° to 78°.

Once you get the hang of them. You won't use anything else.
