looking to get a veg room up and running in the next few weeks and want to try the cob route. I was originally looking at timbers 3ts but just come across these https://www.budtech.co.uk/shop. Any experts about to cast their eye over it, as it’s all abit over my head atm as I’ve only really started reading up about cobs the last couple days. Also I’m in the U.K. so obviously I wouldn’t have to deal with shipping and taxes if they look to e any good. Thanks

I don’t mind putting 2 in there if you think they are of decent quality. Still cheaper than shipping from timber. Although that 3ts looks stupidly good.

DIY is the best way to get the proper light for your space... You can build that 3ts with components from
www.cobkits.com... or buy it from Timber... Rapidled has Vero 3 cob kits..

Hi Guys, These are my lights. Just need to clear a few things up.
It says 16 sqf coverage on that bud tech light and the timber 3ts with 4 more cobs only cover 9.. what’s that all about?
I don't see how 2 vero cobs can cover 16 square feet.

If you read the description it states.

Max Coverage area Veg - 16 Square Feet at 18-24 inches above canopy. -PPFD average (311ppfd)
Max Coverage area flower - 8 Square Feet at 12-18 inches above canopy. -PPFD average (622ppfd)
These are the lowest values that will still veg and flower with reasonable results hence the term "max coverage area".

Not bad but I think that you could DIY that for about 1/2 the cost.
Sure DIY is cheaper, but I think it is more than a fair price for a pre-built fixture considering Timber-Model 2VL is $299.00 and Budtech BUD-V7-A is £279.99 even with 20% UK VAT that always makes UK products more expensive then US.

I'm sorry for bringing this up, Just don't want to come across as trying to rip people off when i'm just trying to provide some decent lights for non diy'ers in the UK.

Well done, mate!
These lights are certainly one of the best currently available in the UK! And the price is also more than fair, considering what alone the heatsinks costs. I'm in the same boat and shipping + customs + VAT would make each commercially manufactured and imported lamp 30% more expensive but I make lamps only for my friends.

Do you have plans for a strip based light in the pipeline? Maybe some additional side-lights?

Good man!

Probably won't affect me as I'm very much a DIY-er as I can have some fun since I can't work any more, but you never know.

Thanks man. IKR shipping and VAT is a killer with Heatsinks. Glad you are helping your friends out and trying to restore faith in LED in the UK as we are dominated with low quality blurple lights.
I have been playing around with Samsung strips and have some CAD designs.
After testing a prototype with gen 3 h series strips I have noticed they are better for DIY because you can cater the length and configuration of strips for your exact space better. It is difficult to make a prebuilt light with strips that is flexible in terms of coverage area. As soon as the space is slightly different or they need to be raised a bit the ppfd drops in corners a lot. Also lets say I made a strip light for a 4x4 and it takes nearly the hole area up and is 700-800ppfd then the grower wants to add more light to get to 1000ppfd, it is impossible in that space to add more light without diy as there is no space for another fixture.
i do the same light for 199.99
All the more power to you man I'm not trying to advertise or compete just correcting some misunderstandings. The extra cost goes into the complete laser cut and CNC'ed aluminium frame for added cooling, Daisy chain capability. Third party CE certification, R&D And some money from each sale is put aside for any possible warranty repair work. Not to mention I could drop an extra £15 if I don't include adjustable ratchet hangers and reflectors.

I have to admit your design and craftsmanship look outstanding. Id certainly drop the hangers and reflectors and add them on as extras as i found most people dont want them so it gets the base price down. Unfortunately we have to compete to stay alive, thats just part of the game but i wish you all the best with your business its good to see another light maker not using cable ties and using proper strain relief on cables.

e2a i buy my heatsinks in bulk maybe i can help you out there?
