LED Driver

I have purchased a used mars hydro eco 49, which I have come to find out isn’t the most reliable to say the least. The light works but the lights will occasionally flicker. I am thinking that this is the driver on its way out. I am not at all familiar with figuring out the specs required for a new driver, though I am quite familiar with electronic repairs. Can anyone help me figured out a suitable affordable replacement save for buying another light which isn’t terribly feasible at the moment.

Realistically I don’t think it’s worth the effort. I agree it’s most likely the driver. If it were newer more modern tech it might be worth the effort.

you’ll be putting more time/energy and money into it than the payoff is worth.
Sounds like it’s only worth fixing if mars honor their warranty, which it should still have

In the mean time I will keep using it and if it fails it fails. Worst case I end up with a half decent shell for a DIY project I suppose.

I figured this would be the case, but thanks regardless

Nope_49595933949 sent a notification to the rep at mars hydro so who knows.

there is a discount and deals thread on here. Lots of random budget lights go on sale. Black Friday is coming up so I would just limp along with what you got until then.

since you’re into electronics I’d suggest digging into what’s the latest trend to educate yourself. Quantum boards and LED bars/strips are the trend as of now.

It doesn't have a warranty any longer.
You should read their warranty page.

That is absolutely hilarious, I know where I will not be buying a new light from lol. I didn’t see that small section regarding those series of lights.

What about repairing the driver? Can you pop the top and inspect for bloated caps, cooked components...etc.
Maybe test a few voltages around the transformers.
Flickering can also be cold solder joints. Thermal cycling in a high heat PSU often causes them.
