Leaving plants without water for a week

I've seen some other threads about this, but none really answered the question as it would apply to my situation.

Soon I'll have to leave my plants for a week, which means no water. They're vegetative. Plants aren't all that old, 3-6 weeks.

Will they survive fine for the week without water? What should I do to help them survive?

I'm one of the ones who asked this question too. Yes they will be fine for a week. And you can do what I'm going to do which is water them heavily before you leave and put saran wrap with poked holes in it over your pot so that the water doesn't evaporate too fast

i would look at some form of water resoviors and pumps and hose to leave plants for any extended period of time... get some pumps from a fish store and some tubing to fit in the pumps, place pumps in somethng that holds a good amount of water, and fix the tubes to say some bamboo stakes in your pots with some twist ties.. set the pumps on timers so that they only run long enough so that the plants don't get too much water or not enough, and your good to go.. it may take a lil tinkering around to figure out how long to leave the pumps on for, and i would get all the bugs worked out a few days before you were planning on leaving, and maybe even use this system for a day or two before you left so that you could have some peace of mind on your vacation or whatever...

you can also get a water globe you can buy one cheap at walgreens fill i tup amnd stick it in the side, it will slowly release water

transplant to a bigger pot and water heavily before you go..if theyre not 5 foot monsters theyll be fine..

rig up a drip system,
fill bucket up, attach a hose to it and let it hang and plug the end of it so it only drips water slowly, should work

Sorry to hijack your thread Australia but I'm sure you want to know the answer to this too. Ahem

How long can plants go without water after they have sucked up all of the existing water in the pot?

Also, how long does soil need to be saturated before root rot starts?
