Leaves curling up to the hands of God

My lower leaves are curling upward in some seedlings.
What is this caused from?


I sprouted them outside in my backyard but had to move indoors so they were safer. There, they were getting light from the sun from inside my apartment.

This soon was not enough light for them so i hooked up my 250 W HPS. I know Hps is not the preferable light spectrum at this point but its better than nothing. This may or may not be the reason this is happening.


-Temp around 78
-Light: (250w HPS)
-Soil: Gardener's Gold
-Using distilled water and small amounts of super-thrive.

the plants are in shock but not doing too badly. how far away do you have your light? expect some stretching.
 
Super thrive? Is that Nutes? Looks like nute burn to me, I just had the same thing. Those leaves look like they are curling down.

I am having a problem with my leaves curling. Was just going to start a thread when I saw yours.

your plants are light or heat stressed, hence the curling of leaf edges.

Unless the soil is hot, superthrive won't hurt them.

The light can be much closer. Try pulling it down to 18" or so. After several days, move it down a few more inches. You can probably get that 250 to within a foot eventually no problem.

I would wait until they are a bit bigger to put them outside, as long as it's cool to have them indoors on the light for now.

I did think it was the light but this plant is further away than the others by a few inches, (over 2ft from a 400w MH), I dont understand how the others are not affected.
 
haven't you heard the phrase "praying for magnesium"? Try feeding with 1 teaspoon of epsom salt per gallon and see if that helps, it will not be detrimental to the plants. Do this for a few waterings in a row and see. Did you amend the with dolomite lime, they will need calcium as well.

No problem man! you should see a difference real soon, after the problem is corrected use the epsom salt like once a week or so to avoid future def.

I'm interested to see if that has any effect. I have never seen a Mg def anywhere near that young.
 
I know its only a day later, but the problem is not getting any better. They are all suffering from the same distress. PLEASE HELP!!! Their lower leaves are curling up, yellowing and dying!!

That looks like nut. burn or just shock, like ceestyle said, from being transplanted so young. It's definitely not the light cus the tops of the plants would be affected, not the bottom. I dont know what superthrive is, but if it's nutes you can hurt the plants by giving it to them too early. How often are you watering?
 
you know, the more i think about it, the more i'm positive that is not Mg deficiency.

think about it - clones survive in rockwool for weeks without anything but water.

those are just in shock.

No transplant, they have been in the same container since birth.

You are all probably right, good observations.

I think I know what i need to do... I have been watering them every couple of days. When the soil looks dry i water them. Superthrive (all natural, vital micronutrient blend) is too early to use. Its definitely not magnesium deficiency. I will flush out the sick ones to get any epsom salt and superthrive out of their system.
