Leaf Surface Temps

I've been following my lst recently this grow and need to know if I should be following that more than the rooms temp. I always kept my rooms temps accordingly for healthy plants and to prevent disease or pests. So i am concerned that the leaf temps change more drastically than the room temps. I use central a/c to cool my room. When it's running the temp of the room is about 78 consistently on average and will go down to 76 and then shut down. When the a/c turns off the temp will usually get to about 80 degrees before it reads on the thermostat and kick back on.
However the leaf surface temp changes way more drastically. When the a/c shuts off the leaf temps get to about 68 degrees and then creeps as high as 88 degrees! Is this normal since the air temp don't change that much? I haven't ran into any issues so far but with that temp differential it makes me nervous. Any input is greatly appreciated.

I run hot 82-85 hit 86.3 once and nights get to be 76-78 but I've been shutting off the heater at night and temps will drop to 66-68 then I'll just turn the heater on when I get home from work. I'm not sure about my LST but my ladies are frosty and appear happy and perky aside from the nute burn I accidentally gave them by using double boosters in one week (should've consulted my journal) sorry if that didn't help lol

Because they are con artists and sell crappy quality product for an arm and a leg. Their leaf temp notion is an effort to sell you IR lights that do nothing of value. I spent $2200 a few years ago and got a nice piece of aluminum though that I made into a real light. Heat is important if you already are maxed out on light intensity and CO2. Their drivers are a joke and the fans are needed because they are inefficient. How many watts in fans should you really need? I hear they are better than they used to be but......

Thanks for that ...I want to build my own LED strip lights but have no clue where to begin would have to do massive amounts of research

I have been wondering this as well as what temp do leaves start to curl. As long as they look happy they should be ok, I never really imagined they could use energy to try to regulate their own temp.
Going to try the meat thermometer and get a reading on the leaves tomorrow just so I know where they are at.

So after posting this I've been doing more research and taking mental notes of my own plant's leaf surface temps. So compared to air temp the leaf's temp heats up and cools down a lot faster. If the leaf gets too hot it obviously means light is too close or the plant isn't not using the light as effective so it's wasted energy which results in heat. Air temperature is more of concern for disease. That statement is still in question because pm can germinate faster at certain temps but what if it's on surface compare to the air temp and rh. Any more input is greatly appreciated.
