Leaf Leasions

I went out today to one of my plots to check in on some of the ladies. I noticed the leaves have white spots with a brown ring near the center of the spot then white again. The spots are about 1/4 of an inch in diameter. It has been humid and raining on and off all week. It looks some what like water damage but the rings have me believe I might be seeing the notorious early blight that is known to exist in the area. I did take a picture with my phone but it looks like crap. I plan on getting more photos tomorrow. Even with out a picture does this sound like I have a problem or just normal water damage?

Possibly a potassium deficiency but doesn't sound exactly right. Probably not water damage to that degree. Check for bugs? Eggs included? Topside and bottom of leaves even unaffected ones with a magnifying glass or low power jewelers loupe.

I'm pretty sure it is not a deficiency. I'm pretty good at identifying them. I'm going to get some photos tomorrow and show you guys. I'm almost certain I'm seeing a blight of some sorts. My biggest female in that spot has been almost completely defoliated from the bottom up in a matter of a week. The others are just now showing signs of the issue. I know late and early blight are in the area and I know some farmers have issues with it every season. Plus on top of that it was pointed out in an article I was reading from the local extension office that the native plants will also show signs of septoria blight in areas that also can carry early/late blight. I have seen this blight on trees and plants all around in the woods but never paid attention to it. After years of growing in my area I think this fungus has finally caught up with me. If it is a blight then I'm probably going to lose the crop from that spot but I'm going to try to control it to see what happens.

You did bring up the insect part which I did see some mites here and there but they have never been an issue and went away after a good spraying of neem. My biggest female started to show yellow leaves a few weeks ago and I gave her a good feeding but the leaves continued to yellow out and die off. Apparently the blight causes this then shows lesions during flowering. The leaf issue was exasperated this week with the wet humid warm days and cool nights.

I was able to figure out how to get the picture off my phone. I knows its a bad pic but you will get the point. In the bigger spot in the middle of the pic u can hardly see the ring Im talking about.Blight.jpg
