Leaf Clipping

You plants leaves store nutrients, when the plant needs them it can draw on them so its not a good idea to cut them off.
So when you have a damaged leaf and your plant has several leaves, sure cut it off. If your plant only has a few leaves then just cut off the damaged part and leave the rest.

The plant is 4 weeks into flowering, and some leaves have damaged spots. so i don't know whether to cut the whole leaf off or just the damaged area...

So once you're in flower you don't really want to cut off leafs at all. Doesn't matter if they're damaged or not. Let the plant kill it off and when you are able to barely tug and it falls off, then take them off. No cutting needed, when the plant is done with it, it will practically fall off without any problem.

Agreed, The only time I would recommend removing leaf or part of one is when it is weak and will attract insects or fungi.
Not during the natural dieing process where is is just yellowing, the plant uses those nutrients.
