YESSSSSS I finally got my laughing buddha mother plant... a friend bought the seeds a year ago from barneys in amsterdam... and he didnt grow them till now because of too little growing space but he finally sprouted them with 100% success.... He grew them for 1 and a half months and took 2 clones from everyone of them... He then set his original seeds to flower.. and discovered 6 out of 10 of them are females... We then selected (toegether) which of the 6 was the bushiest and shortest with the tightest internodes.. (his box is only 120 cm tall so he really needed to keep the shortest mother). seen as he took 2 clones from each original seeds he only needed to keep the 1 which was from the mother he wanted and HE GAVE ME THE OTHER :)
so its been in my vegging room along with my other mothers... and its thriving!!!!! its already made about 10 internodes and its not stretching too high (unlike some of the others my friend had) I already took 10 clones from it which have rooted with 100% success also!!!!
I am gonna keep a journal of these soon as i get my cam working again!!!!
My friends ones are also doing fine, but a few of them in the flowering room really stretched but with bending you can manage it...
the buds are dripping with trichomes already.. they are HUUUGEE and still have 3 weeks of flowering to go... The only downer is that the buds are extreeemely loose, (which they shouldnt be) we are guessing it might be because his hps light is past 2 years old and mustnt be giving off as high lumens anymore..
well ill keep you guys posted with my own LB grow
till then
keep it green in love and UNder JAH LIGHT

Here it goess....
these are pictures of my laughing buddha mother... and the clones taken from it a week before it was transplanted to a slightly bigger pot... It is still recovering the transplant... but looking fiiiine:)
I am vegging the mother and clones under a 250watt Envirolite blue spectrum....
with Bio bizz all mix soil, Bio bizz Grow, Mollasses (for the clones once they are big enough) and Guano kalong in the soil...
the light is on 18 h and off for 6...... humidity level is at 70 - 80% all the time... and the temperature is at 22 - 25 degrees celcius ........ No extracting fan in the veg room, just a little fan that smacks right on the mother....

Till that time,
keep it green, in love and under JAH LIGHt...

I grew out 5 laughing Buddha seeds last summer. Four of the five seeds had a very similar pheno, one of them was short stinky and had a really unique bud structure. The high is long lasting and very social. Taste like an exotic sandalwood with hints of espresso.

I vegged mine out for way to long and had to tie them back numerous times. They have long flowering time but is good quality smoke.

tried to twice. the first time it refused to even sprout, probably because my room was too cold and a lot of stuff was being difficult, and the second time, it sprouted, but the stem snapped in half on it inside a peat pellet.

So I find laughing buddha a great plant. But the stems are not strong enough to hold up the buds. I am thinking of crossing with a more stout, strong branching strain without ruining the Jamaican Thai that I love....I have a Trainwreck that would be perfect or maybe a Lemon Thai would be best

giving an old thread a little CPR.
laughing buddha is one of my consistently favorite buds when i'm in amsterdam.
bought 2 fem 5-packs (regs were not an option at the time), but was disappointed.
nothing like the (jamaican blue mountain x meao thai) cross that it should have been, effects-wise.
come to find a lot of breeders will reverse an indica to create the fem version of a strain,
which knocks out the clean and clear energetic effects of sativa(-leaning) strains.
you can see acknowledgement of that in the seedfinder's description...
https://en.seedfinder.eu/strain-info/Laughing_Buddha/Barneys_Farm/

glass half-full: that indica will reduce the normal 14-16wks flowering of the regs.

the strain willie nelson is (vietnamese black x nepalese highland).
i've got a sideways mash-up of the LB and WN in a hack i made...
(VietBlackThai) x (nepalese Jam) both strains from ace seeds
...i'll be launching in a few days. it's gonna take a pheno hunt methinks.

Where are you getting that breeders use indica reversed pollen to produce fem seeds, of that the seed finder site acknowledges that?

Oh ya!! I grew it and love the high. So much I used it to breed. One of my crosses was a Sour D and the Laughing Buddha added so much more juice. I kept one cross as a mother as it grew fast and hard like Sour D but tastes and high just like the LB. AWESOME. Careful late into flower as LB has trouble holding up the weight of the flowers. thumb_DSC_0210_1024.jpg
