So I've been out of the grow game for a long time. between moving and work and life, it's been hard. But everything is in rhythm now and I've got the itch to grow. I still have all my supplies to grow. I even sketched out my room and have been setting it up. But I've come into a problem. This new place im at has a good landlord. but my grow would be in my basement. and being in an old house. problems arise in the basement often that require his fixing. and its not super cheap or easy to hide a dwc system with a 400w HID. Now I understand it would be difficult to give any advice to help me out lol.

 But after remembering this one detail about my new house, im super deflated. so if anyone has any advice or even a few comments, but not growing when i have this kind of ability to do so will eventually make me go mad. so a little brainstorm would be nice. lol

thanks guys

Id make a box out of ply wood put the air ducting in the back out of sight buy a carbon filter so it doesn't smell if the come in the basement to do repairs . put a good lock on it if you ever get asked what it is ? Say it storage from your dead mom/dad friend you don't like to look at it but you cant throw it away so you made a box for it .

Maybe consider a stealth grow. I've seen some decent results from others using two Rubbermaid containers stacked in top of each other.

Cool thanks for the advice guys. Stealthing it may be my only option in a situation like this. or run the risk of having to uproot my whole system I.C.E.

Either way all my supplies are for a non stealth easy to setup room. now i need a lot more dollars to finish this. and a lot more work. it's just a bitch all around.

ughhhhh stupid landlords.

I'm w billy, build a box use a pallet as the base in case of water on the floor.
build a seperate box within the first for electric and fan motors and duct out the back like Billy said.

Billys story rings true also.

Stealth it up, but I don't see why you couldn't use some type of pre-made cabinet bought from the hardware store and modified slightly.

People wouldn't know what the hell it was unless they really took a good look at it.

I'm in the same boat. I popped four seeds about 2 weeks ago and have been holding the seedlings in rock wool cubes while I wait for my landlord to fix a leak issue that suddenly has him coming into my apartment when I haven't seen him for years. I use a tent…and I'll be putting it up in the next day or two when I hear that the leak is fixed. My poor seedlings will be ready to bust out of those cubes by then.

Maybe get a tent and keep it someplace besides the basement?

i must say once my house was up for sale its been tricky moving the plant and lights constantly at least i get 24 hour notice.
sadly with renting if you dont want people there you have to pay for what is broken and fix it yourself.

I would use a stealth cabinet not plywood box. There would be no reason to question the metal storage cabinet. Large plywood boxes are not as common.

Agreed on fix it yourself. Get a house that needs less maintenance if your not skilled in hvac / plumbing / electrical.

I like a lease agreement where tenant is responsible for all repairs. This keeps landlord out of the picture.

check out the DIY section here they have some awesome stealth box designs you can straight up copy. if you have a bit of handyman in you it shouldn't be too difficult.
