well to flush the res you just run a few gallons of plain water thru the perlite , followed by the gallon of feed. it is low maintenance to me I guess all I gotta do is bring water to my 5gal res , fill it , ph it, run the pump on a timer . been top feeding now but it seems easier that way. run off has to be manually collected and dumped..pita honestly considering changing to promix

put your finger over the hole while it fills above slightly then release to flush the rez
I guess that would work ok for your pure perlite hempy, and since it's 100% perlite, it does seem to make sense to need more waterings. I do DTW, and collect my runoff with a bucket top vac.

Out of curiosity, why did you choose pure perlite vs perlite/vermiculite or perlite/coco?

perlite it totally inert , doesn't require buffering and can be instantly flushed of salts

True. One issue with perlite however is relatively low surface area to volume ratio. Because of that you might find that you need somewhat larger hempy buckets compared to coco or vermiculite. The pics of your buds look good though, so it seems to be working out. Nice work.

I use 3-4 gallons of medium per 5gal bucket usually I don't fill them all the way, would require a really long veg, honestly I'm tired of perlite and want to try pro mix , its just very difficult to carry heavy mediums as I have had multiple back surgeries, its a pain in the ass to carry the soil or anything heavy down into my basement and back up again (I have no drain down there, so I recover waste water with a portable battery operated pump when its deep enough in the collection trays. its all a PITA honestly, so dry perlite is just easier to handle..thats honestly why I chose it

You might consider coco, which is very light until moistened.

Also I like these better than battery pumps, it is just a head that fits on a 5-gal bucket;

thanks il check that out
I highly recommend HydroLogic filters. They are inexpensive and quality. Great company too.

How many watts does that heater draw? I ask, because I also had to add a heater to my grow space during winder, but I choose a 600watt HPS, which works quite well, and also happens to throw photons at the plants.
its 1500w I cant find a smaller one. I can only run the mars hydro and the heater , the 600w + heater trips the 15amp line. I only have 1 socket in my basement, currently rebuilding my attic and running 2, 20amp lines up there so I have better access to electric.

both 2x600w hps don't even keep a 4x4 space above 63 lights on, current outdoor temp is 10degrees, my basement is 44 the tent is finally staying at 75

Haha make sure not to mess up your attic ventilation
nah its huge i live in a giant apartment complex above me is prolly 40x40

landlord doesn't care as long as I cover all the costs, the basement was already to cold and I'd have to fork over the bill to finish it (fuck that). the way he sees it any work i do he keeps forever after I move and the grow spaces become storage spaces

I also have to pay an electrian to come install the 2 20amp lines , so its a work in progress for sure , hoping to be finished by spring or mid summer
