Kinda New To This...Looking For Some Advice

So I am probably going to start growing some form of auto flowering dwarf strain. I'm most interested at the moment with White Dwarf and Lowryder 2. I'd like to use a grow tent and a good one not a cheap knock off. I've already done a lot of research myself and it seems that an 18/6 light cycle is best. Can I use an HPS light during the entire grow or do I need to start with a MH? This is one thing I'm not clear on at the moment...

I would like to purchase all my grow equipment from one shop to minimize the number of packages coming and hopefully shipping. It would be nice but not absolutely neccessary to purchase a complete kit outright. At most I'll probably grow five plants at a time so I don't need a very large tent. However I'm not entirely sure of what wattage light would be best...It seems that 400 would be enough but assuming I could keep the temp down would there be a benefit in using a bulb with higher wattage? I've not decided whether I want to go hyrdro or soil with this grow...Is one or the other have any particular benefits when it comes growing an auto flowering strain? Odor will be an issue so a filter is a must.

I'm essentially looking for any suggestions and input on what equipment to start out with. Your help is much appreciated and once I get it going there will likely be a grow journal to come.

I am kinda of new to this I have one grow under my belt, yes you can use a HPS, some people say that they cause the plants to stretch, MH gets more bushier and shorter compact plants, I have also heard if you do use a HPS , use a Eye Hortilux becuase it has the best color spectrum for vegging.. Personally, I went the first time straight HPS, this time I am running a 600 w conversion MH bulb and will switch to Eye Hortilux for flowering, to see if there is any difference, to each their own.... I got a DR-150 that I really like, from 4hydroponics.com for $279 no shipping it's a 5x5x6.5.....you could probaly use the DR-120,just got a new Lumatek 600w ballast/air cooled 6'' reflector and a Eye Hortilux bulb for $289 from Club Hydro...pretty good deal but there is shipping.....I would bet if you are willing to spend some money, some companies out there will probaly give you a good deal if you call them...check with HTG Supply.....good luck...

I've looked into the dark rooms, they seem to be alright but I think I will probably go with something that has a little more quality. To my understanding they are essentially a budget version of better grow tents. I'll probably go with MH light at first...I'd prefer them to be short and bushy. Thanks for the help.
