I use 3 and 5 gallon “plant warrior pots” that are designed to expose as much air to the roots as possible.
I’ve grown 7 foot plants in 3 gallon pots with tons of roots protruding from the bottom cone. If the roots
dry out, that plant just grows new roots – never an issue.
BTW, a 3 gallon “plant warrior pot” is about equal to a 2 gallon pot.
