kief . . . can I cook with it?

YES! Same way you would your butter or oil or any other way you infuse your products.

Remember it is most likely much more potent than using regular flower buds, so eat a little first, then adjust...

Happy times

I used 15 grams of bubble hash in 1 pan (box) of brownies. lets just say a 1.5sq" piece of brownie is ALL you need for a fun filled day. I always use hash or keif when making edibles, never leaf/buds.

you sure can Farmer Woot :) How much do you have to work with? What would you like to make? let me know and we will go from there.

I figure I'll have a half pint/ pint by the time I'm done trimming. I'm using a trim bin this year and it's got a kief screen though I'd prefer it didn't as I've no real use for kief.

cool...so that will be probably about 60 grams or so. I would treat it the same way I do my dry ice hash. All you will need is some solid coconut oil, and some soy lecithin granules (get them at BelAir in heath food section) First, is the decarb - one of the most important steps...Spread kief out in a glass pie plate or other oven safe dish. Cover tightly with foil. Put in cold oven (do not preheat) set at 225f. Set timer for 20 minutes. Let cool completely when timer goes off. After cool, (you will lose vapors if you take off when still warm) take off foil. I add about 2 or 3 teaspoons of the lecithin granules and enough coconut oil (you want to melt it down first) to moisten. Stir it in well and cover tightly with the foil again. Heat oven to 250f. When ready, reduce heat to 220f and put dish in oven for 40 minutes. Let cool completely then remove foil. Stir very well.

You will probably still have a very thick liquid with some granules left. Add more coconut oil and stir in. Back in the oven at 220f for 40 minutes. I usually end up going 1 gram kief/hash to 1 tsp coconut oil by the time it is finished. I put it in the freezer also between each oven session. By the time you are done, you will have a liquid black gold. This is what you will use to cook with.

Or, you can just add your kief to any recipe. But it will def not be anywhere as effective.

Thanks fumble. I can use the coconut oil from Costco? And can I freeze? How Long will this stuff keep? Last thing, when cooking with it do I just use this oil in place of veritable oil /olive oil?

No problem Woot :) If it is the solid at room temp kind, then yes you can use it. How much is it btw? I may have my parents pick me up some. As far as freezing...yes. In fact I usually will freeze it between oven times. I usually go in and out of the oven/freezer about 3 times. Probably just my OCD thinking, but I swear it makes it more potent.

I would not use this in place of oil in a recipe. It is very potent and a little will go a long way. Unless the recipe only calls for a few teaspoons. I use it a lot for chocolates. For a batch of say, Blueberry White Chocolate Hash Squares, I will do about 3 or 4 teaspoonfuls. I get about 30 + candies out of it and they are quite strong!

I saw it here locally too.. I opted for 2gals of olive oil instead for about 17$ costco kicks ass.. they even have the 6 pack of brownie mix for about 8$

Hey fumble I just made a batch of your kief cocoanut oil and I just wanted to say I love the technique and the fact you use lecithin. One question when making your candies do you the oil in addition to or in place of any butter or oil in the recipe? Thanks for sharing the technique.

hey Csufan97 :) That is awesome you made it. I just follow BadKittySmiles recipe though, so credit goes to her :)

I mostly use the oil for making candies, so I am just adding it to the mix. If they are made with butter, I use canna butter and then and the coconut hash oil for extra strength depending on the candy. But I would def not replace the oil, say, in a box of brownie mix. Usually calls for about a 1/3 cup - which would floor you for dayyyyys if you used the hash oil lol.

Sweet thank you so much this really helped me out I was wondering what to do with all the kief I had laying around and I just found some killer cocoanut oil candy recipes online. I will take a look for badkittysmiles posts as well. Peace!

Not sure if it has been mentioned but there is a book
called cooking with keif.

The basic idea of the book is to infuse
the keif in butter, oil, Cream etc.
Then cook with it.

If your gonna use it as salad dressing
decarb it first to activate the thc.

If your gonna cook baking is safer
than saute. Saute it is much harder
to control the temp and you risk
vaporizing your thc.

If baking it is safer to use a brownie than a cookie as the internal temp of a thicker
item will be lower than a thin cookie.

All methods are fine as long as you have
control over your temps.

Anything at 350 should be fine
as the internal temp will not reach 350.

try slowly disolving 2 tsp kief
in two sticks butter then cooking with it.
Cant remember if it needs to be salted
butter or not. If it looks nasty you can strain it but it is not a problem either way.

Hope that helps.
I bought an ass load of books and it really boils down to what I mentioned.

Candies would be fun to try but I have not read enough to offer any help

No problem.
Glad someone gets some use out of the info I rarely do.
Starting with kief your ahead of the game
as far as speed and easy cleanup.
Nothing like buttersoaked weed all over
to harsh your mellow.
Let us know if you come up with a
simple method that works well.

takes about 10 minutes total time to make a batch of dry ice keif.

I use a 1 gallon shake bag 160micron will work...clean the trimmings of stems and fan leaf first...stuff the trim into sandwich bags...put 2 bags of trim into the shake bag...add about 3 baseball sized dry ice balls
just shake the bag up and down use a 5 gallon bucket to catch the keif...warm a sauce pan add a 1" slice of butter add 1 level teaspoon of kief...cook for 5 minutes..add to any food you want to eat
Bam!!!you will be stoned for sure
