I am expecting my first child soon. I have a couple years grace until this issue will affect me, but -

I am wondering how all everyone deals with kids around there plants?

I want them to grow up seeing it in a positive light and aware of it etc, but I don't want them going to school telling the teacher about daddy's "special plant".

My personal policy would be to keep minors away from grows, cannabis, alcohol and Tide pods too

I understand where your coming from - especially the tide pods  But I grew up around my father home brewing for instance, but I didn't start underage drinking any younger or heavier than my counterparts !
Maybe in places its where the law has a way to catch up to reality, it might be best to leave them in the dark about it until they're teens.

But even then a teen might go blabbing about how their father grows weed to impress folks :wall:

If you are in the US it's federally illegal, home brewing isn't. I was concerned about potential intervention by child protective services.

Keep your grow hidden from your kids. It's too large of a burden to ask them to keep such a secret, likely to cause undue anxiety. My kid just knows my grow room as my office, and dad keeps it locked and no one is welcome in there as it's dad's work and private space. He used to ask what I do in there, but not any longer. Now that he's a teenager, I think on some level he probably has an idea, but we don't discuss it...

Electrify the plants. They don't mind it but it'll drop any vertebrate. The kids learn from it too.
