khat

Never tried it, but heard middle easterners use it for the same purpose we drink coffee; to wake up and start your day off.

It's a stimulent similar to cocaine but far less potent.
 
Lots of place in africa it is a bit of a scurge... makes you lazy as shit.
The husbands sit around at home chewing khat, while the women look for food.

Highly addictive.

Oh yeah, I guess it's pretty easy to come by if you live in a city with lots of Ethiopians or Senegalese, even in the US.

I have no experience with growing it though.

Pretty much.. it has the stimulants Cathine and Cathinone in it.. although I've never heard of someone really using it much in the States. I have heard of people doing methcathinone though.

i've had Khat. I may be lazy but I'm not addicted.

Where are you getting your info? seriously, Tons of people do this in the US metro areas and it's not near the scourge that alcohol is. The extracted alkaloids may be pretty bad, but it's not much more of a stimulant than coffee. Like cocaine the leaves are fairly benign, even beneficial. You may even be right, but anecdotal evidence I've seen personally says it's not a "scourge"

Well, I would imagine if chewed and not extracted, the side effects of Khat vs. Weed would be close (as I don't think there would be anything significant). But if consumed often or if extracted, then yes, the Khat would be worse for you than weed.

I prefer to look at it as weed is better than the rest, but maybe khat is sorta good.

I was comparing the side effects of chewed Khat (not obsessivly) to marijuana, there are none.
