Hello everyone!

I am new to RIU but I am active over on ICMag and WAS active on OG, many years ago.

The old cab is gone, but I have made a new veg / flower cab.

Plans-

Lighting-
Flower Cab-
150w HPS in a cool tube.
Veg Cab-
125 CFL in veg

Flower Cabinet-
Ikea cabinet
4" SP fan - on order
4" CF - on order
5" Cool tube
5-4" duct reducer
4" ducting
4x4 two gang outlet for in-cab sockets
Hardware area at the top stores ballast, fan and circutry
2x 4" Passive intakes

Veg Cabinet-
Ikea Nightstand
4" PC Fan
Vert 125w CFL

Nutes-
I made the switch from FF to GH nutes and i am LOVING IT
3-2-1 system and I feed everyday with a flush at the end of the week

Medium-
Hempy Buckets (Solo cups in veg coffee containers in flower)
Switched from Rapid Rooters to rock-wool and I am enjoying it

Strains I have now-
2-Hawaiian Punch (from some bomb bud I picked up from the club) 9/7/2013
2-Madman OG, 1 is a runt, one is going NUTS 9/1/2013
2-(BBxBUB)x(GDPxHB) (9/19/2013)

All my old seed stock is having trouble popping and I havent had any success. So sad to see hundreds of dollars worth of C99 F2's, Deep Chunk, Deep Chunkolate and Resin Bomb down the drain.

Flower Cab Build-
The flower cab is still being built and slowly but surly the supplies are coming in.

You can see this cabinet has glass doors, these will be covered with mirrors and a mirror on top. It should actually look pretty nice when done. I also plan on getting some funky knobs and making it look a bit vintagy.

The inside is already flat white so I dont think I will be putting my mylar up because that shit is just a bitch to work with and hang. My old cab you could hear it blowing from my fan as well.

I started by assembling the cab from ikea, just like it should be. I however flipped the rear panel 180 degrees so the hole for cords is on the bottom. I will be patching this over and caulking to seal it shut.

I then caulked all the interior walls of the cab, this ensures no light leaks and it should be pretty air tight.

The upper shelf that the ballast, fan and ducting will be above needs to be modded to accommodate the cord to the cool tube and the ducting from the cool tube -> the fan -> out the back. I plan on cutting a hole out from the side. Once everything is mounted, I will caulk around the hardware area as well.

Here it is with the cool tube mocked up. There will be a carbon filter attached to one end and ducting on the opposite going through the top shelf to the fan in the hardware area. I have not cut this hole yet.

Thats it for now, I will update later after I install the fan outlet and the passive intakes.

Lighting-

I got my light situated 100% now. The outlets of the cool tube are 5" and I needed to get them down to 4". Metal duct reducers at home depot were a bit too long for me and it would have barely fit in the cab.. Instead, I grabbed these 4"-3" adapters for PVC. The 3" side fit the 4" tubing around the outside which I will tape with foil tape before I turn the cab on and the 4" side on the adapter fit the 5" side over my cool tube.

The ballast will be held up top in the "hardware chamber"

Heres some pics so show you what I mean.

Ventilation DIY-

Got my intake all setup today.

For the flanges I used a hydrofarm 4 inch adapters for their reflectors. I cut a hole on each bottom corner and put these on.

Remember- I used two four inch holes because I will be using a single four inch outlet. You always want your intake to be double the size of exhaust hole on passive systems.

I layered caulk between the flange and the cabinet backing to ensure a light proof and air tight seal before I bolted them in place.

I love how this came out instead of just having holes cut like in the past. It really neatens things up a bit and allows me to easily attach ducting or other elbows to make it light proof.

STILL WAITING ON FAN TO ARRIVE. I WILL UPDATE WHEN I INSTALL THE DUCTING AND THE OUTLET IN THE HARDWARE CHAMBER.

Small Plant Update-

I wont be working on the cab until this weekend and pretty much all I need is for my fan to show up and to get mirrors cut to cover the glass doors and one more for the top of the cab so it looks a little nicer ;)

Heres my bitches (hopefully all bitches) lol.

013.5 days since (BBxBub)x(GDPxHP) - 5 has been in veg
013.5 days since (BBxBub)x(GDPxHP) - 6 has been in veg
025.1 days since Hawaiian Punch - 3 has been in veg
025.1 days since Hawaiian Punch - 4 has been in veg
031.0 days since Madman OG - 1 has been in veg
031.0 days since Madman OG - 2 has been in veg

The big one is the madman OG that I am LOVING so much. It grows very bushy, I have LST'd this bitch a lot (check the pic) and I plan to take clones and throw in flower as soon as the cab is ready. It already has trichs on the leaves, showing pistils and has alternating node growth with about 11-12 tops so far. Also, she is that classic OG dark green.

I topped the other Madman, kinda scrawny looking guy that is tied over. This one is a runt clone that is as old as the bushy one.

The two Hawaiian Punch bagseeds are going nice, both have been topped and #4 has been topped 2 times now well I guess 3 times technically.

Loving the plants and your build style is very efficient and clean. I really like the ducting method you chose as well.

Hi there, thank you for stopping by!

My goal for this cab is to be super clean and have no bullshit in the growing area. I was sick of having wires hanging and ducting and fans everywhere. Now all will be up top minus the carbon filter to the cool tube and then out the cool tube up through the shelf..

The plants are growing good. No nute burns or deficiency. I am using the 3-2-1 method from GH and I will be switching to Lucas in flower with Cal - Mag supplements.

Very clean cab, Good luck with your grows. What kinda temps do you hit with that setup? And are you covering the glass in those doors?

Thanks. I'm still waiting on my fan so I'm not sure what it will run temp wise with the carbon filter attached. Should be bad and I can always improve the vents and run separate fans for the cab and cool tube. I made it so that option is there if I need it.

Thw glass will be covered with mirrors on the outside so you can't see in. I'm having those cut.

I started in FFOF and the FF line of nutes. I had some issues here and there but it could have been a learning curve. This is my second grow this style. I have honestly never used such an aggressive feeding schedule. I feed everyday and then flush on saturdays to get the salt build-up out of the cups.

For seedlings, I use half strength after 2 or so weeks of water. Then after a few days it gets fed the normal strength 3-2-1 solution from GH.

No burn, deficiency or anything of those sorts yet (except one of the seedlings that I spilled nutes on by accident) and I have been using it for a month, so I am sure I would have seen issues a while ago if there were going to be any.. Every feeding there is a HUGE increase in plant size by the morning.

All plants are in 100% perlite cups. The method is call "Hempy Buckets" I honestly love them, the only thing I dont like is that I have to feed them everyday. This would be different if the plants were in larger containers but for my veg cab, running vert, I can fit 8 of these cups in a circle around my 125w CFL. In flower I plan on using Folgers style coffee containers- hempy style, with the Lucas Formula. I read a lot about GH FloraGro causing a bunch of stretch in flower. So if I do use it, I will only use about half what they recommend but I plan on doing the Lucas Formula instead..

Hope that answered some of your questions

I have heard of that, I need to check that out, do you ph your water check the ppm and all that jazz as well each feeding?
I do not check the PPM, I would like a meter but they are a bit pricey and I am not having issues.

I do PH the water and nutes down between 5.8 and 6.3

edit: Here is a link to the hempy thread - https://www.rollitup.org/drain-waste-hydro/546006-world-hempy.html check it out, I am never going back to soil unless I do outdoor but I havent done that since I moved out to California from the East Coast..
