keeping clones outside during the day/ distance from lights inside?

i have 17 females under 2 1000 watt lights about 2 feet from the plant, i have 3 more clones but wanted to know if its ok to keep the new clones outside in the sun during the day because i think it would be too much under my 2 1000 watt lights inside. how long should i keep the clones outside during the day? at what point can i bring them inside with my others under the lights? also, my clones inside are about 5 inches tall now, how far should i have the lights away from the plant?
