Hello kind people,

Nov 28 I started germinating 2 Mandarin Headstash and 2 Orange Sorbet by Karma Genetics. They went straight into jiffy pucks.

Dec 2 I transplanted 2 Mandarin Headstash and 1 Orange Sorbet into 1 gals of Clackamas Coots soil mix, one Orange Sorbet is late to the party but should be ready to transplant in a couple days (had to manually remove the shell, hence the yellow first leaves). They are all currently under mixed spectrum T5's. Fingers crossed this mix isn't too hot for these seedlings.

They will probably get 2-3 weeks in this setup then they will be transplanted to 65 gals CC mix under MH lights.

I think this is my 3rd organic soil grow, far from knowing what I'm doing, so all advices and inputs are greatly appreciated.

Subbing! I promise it's not too hot! My mix is way stronger than CC and I had no issues :)

Fighting funas gnats already, layer of DE on top and panty hose around the holes at bottom.

Runts have made some of the best dogs and cannabis I ever had.

i had a runt here with this latest batch of seeds I've been growing out, and it eventually caught up to the rest of them after 30 or so days. Now I don't even remember which one it was haha. Looks like you're fighting the good fight :) Sand is also a useful tool for sealing off the top soil horizon. Love the pantyhose around the bottom, brilliant :)

did you start with fem seeds?

Dec 30th update:

All 4 seedlings are looking horrible. Not sure if I should scrap these and start new seeds. The plants aren't getting any nutrition.

Possible causes:

- didn't inoculate soil properly
- ph issue due to new water source
- should have started using calmag sooner
- not watering often enough/letting soil get too dry
- weak soil mix

In the past I had issues with soil mixes burning my seedlings, this time they're not getting any nutrients, should I start over or try and salvage these? Is there a tea recipe that could get them back on track? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.IMG_4690.JPG IMG_4689.JPG

I have a pretty "hot" store bought soil, I may transplant these into a 3 gallons pot of that hot soil, actually 2 gallons of hot soil and the 1 gallon of CC mix they're currently in.

I would say (assuming your watering is on point) ph issues if anything. At that stage theres definitely no deficiencies if your in CC mix. I doubt its from letting the soil get to dry, but how has your watering schedule been over the last week or two? Do you possibly not have enough aeration? Soil thats too saturated will lock out nitrogen.
Im far from a pro, and currently having my own problems so take all I say with a grain of salt!

Hi, the no till in the title caught my eye.aught my eye, thought I'd pop in and check it out. Sorry to see you are having an issue. Not familiar with the mix you are using, is it alive? The bacteria and fungi are what feeds the plants in living soil. I'd try inoculating with fungi perfectis plant success tabs or a similar myco product and then watering with earth worm casting tea or a bacteria rich product like recharge. Get your soil healthy and the plants will perk up.
Do you compost? Are you worm farming? Do you plan to go to a true no till setup down the road?
I have a grow journal here, link in sig, feel free to have a look. It's a mix of notill and conventional organics.
I wouldn't trash your plants just yet, very fixable and shouldn't be a factor in the end result. Use it as a learning opportunity.

I water about every 3rd or 4th day. It's been suggested to me in the past to try and water more often using less water. As for aeration, I have the standard 1/3 aeration of rice hulls.

As long as the pot feels nice and light you should be good, really depends on how much you put in at each watering of course. I've never used rice hulls so i cant comment, perlite always does me well. The hulls do look like they may not be the greatest at retaining air though.

The mix is supposed to be alive but I have my doubts, I maybe didn't add enough water when inoculating.

I don't compost, I do have composted products in my soil mix though, ie cow manure, leaf mold, and ewc.

I'm not yet worm farming, though I do have an Urban Worm Bag which I haven't gotten around to using.

I do plan on turning this into a no till grow, I was going to transplant these seedlings into 65 gals pots.

I do have this Mycos product on hand, I've been using it during transplant, how do I use it in a watering (or tea).

I'll check out your grow, thanks.

I may add some perlite or pumice to the soil I have on hand. But I don't think aeration is the current source of my problems. More likely the PH issue that you've already mentioned.

This is the soil recipe I used:

Base:

1/3 Peat Moss
1/3 Rice Hulls
1/3 Compost (ewc, leaf, cow manure)

Amendments:

Kelp 1/2 cup per cubic foot
Neem Cake 1/2 cup per cf
Crab Meal 1/2 cup per cf
Malted Barley 1/2 cup per cf

Mineral Mx:

Basalt 1 cup per cubic foot
Oyster Shell flower 1 cup per cf
Gypsum 1 cup per cf
Glaciel Rock Dust 1 cup per cf

You're likely right about it being pH. Which sucks. I'd probably top dress with some fresh ewc and use good clean water for a bit, hope it evens out. They're still young and have lots of time to grow and flourish.
