Okay! I've been waiting to get some seeds or clones, well the seeds came first through a dealer that found a couple of seeds in a pound of Wondergirl and Green Crack buds. So I'm not quite sure which seed is which strain.
Anyways, I did the standard paper towel in a plastic baggie germination trick, and once I saw taproots about 5mm long I put them root-down in rapid rooters.
I've had to help one seedling along a little, the shell caused it to get wedged and bound inside the rapid rooter, but gentle spreading of the rooter plug and careful application of tweezers removed the shell, and it's almost ready to pop free and stand up proudly. The other seedling had no issues.
Current lighting: 216w T5HO lamp. If I get two more seeds or clones going, I will turn on my other 216w array. If not, I'll keep using a single 216w arrray until flowering, then just for shits and giggles I'll pump both T5HO arrays plus a 400w HPS lamp for flowering for a total of 832w of light. For two plants, that might be a little overkill, but at least I won't have to worry about not having enough light.
Buckets: 3 gallon. 6 inch airstone, 3w air pump for each bucket.
Nutes: I'm a little torn on this. I've got GH FloraGro and FloraMicro, and some Florikan Dynamite. The Florikan Dynamite is powerful stuff and will work on hydro due to the nitrate content. (13-13-13 with 6.5 nitrate 6.5 ammoniacal nitrogen sources, so in essence for hydro this is 6.5-13-13 with micronutrients, ideal for the flowering stage with less nitrogen and higher potassium and phosphorous.) Maybe I'll start with FloraGro and Micro to start then move to Florikan straight-up for flowering. I'm not really sure, as of yet.
Here's a picture of the nutes I have that will work in a hydro system without modification. I know the Florikan is polymer-coated. I just grind it into powder, sift out the shells through a fine mesh screen, and it works, the basil and tomato both love it to death.
