Strain: Kali Mist
Parents: Unknown
Breeder: Serious Seeds

Growing Style: Top - Schwazee - Trellis
: 4 plants in a 4' x 4' tent
: Black Dog Phytomax 2 1000 watt
: Pro Mix in 7 gallon fabric pots
: Dyna Gro, hygrozyme, Cal Mag, Rhino Skin, SuperThrive, Regalia

It's been close to 20 years since I grew Kali Mist for the first time. I don't remember the high well enough to describe it but I do remember that it was spectacular.

Serious sends out their seeds in a little plastic container with Q-tips as plugs. Nothing fancy but gets the job done.

.

The KM seeds were on the small side but that didn't keep them from splitting and growing 1/4 tails in 48 hours. Ready to plant.

I germinate using the paper towel method and a heating pad with a thermostat.

DSC02380.JPG

.

48 hours to split then 48 hours more to pop the ground. Everything went like clockwork, not even a seed shell left on the sprouts.

I use Rapid Rooters after the seeds grow a tail.

.

Now some love and attention and these seedlings will grow to fill my tent.

Description

Kali Mist is arguably the top Sativa strain available on the market today, she is often called the Queen of Sativas.

She grows into classical Sativa plants with very few leaves, producing much higher yields than you would expect. This strain produces dense clusters of full spirally buds, with a very high resin content and a delightfully spicy scent. The open plant structure with few leaves allows light to pass all the way to lower branches, allowing the bottom buds to develop fully.

Kali Mist is used as medicine against chronic pains like back aches and as a mood enhancer. Women all around the world particularly like this plant as a relief against monthly cramps. Kali Mist has been improved twice since its first release; in 1998 and in 2000. The most recent and also best version won 8 of the 10 cups behind the name 'Kali Mist’.

When she is planted outside early in the year this plant can grow very tall. Grown outdoors in Spain and Italy she proved to be very mold resistent, even during rains.

Kali Mist won a 1st prize Cannabis Cup 1995, 1st prize Cannabis Cup 2000, 3rd prize High Life Spain 2004, 1st prize Seedcup 2008 in Bologna, Italy, and in 2009 the third prize at the Kent Guerilla Cannabis Cup in England.

Last awards won by Kali Mist: 1st prize in the category: 'Best Hash' at the Cannabis Champions Cup 2012 in Barcelona, Spain and 3rd prize in the category: 'Sativa' at the Growbarato Cup 2018 in Barcelona, Spain. This variety gives a very strong, clear, energizing and uplifting High.

Hobbes gotta say- good seeing you around, first and foremost! Wanted to ask you what do you think of serious current stock of ak-47, I used to love that strain back in the day.

Hi Dividedsky!

I grew AK47 around the same time I grew Kali Mist 20 years ago, I don't remember much about the high. I have seeds for Strawberry Akeil that's an AK47 Bubblegum cross that looks interesting.

I don't know about any changes being made to AK.

.

The AK47 strain, our most popular variety, is an easy to grow plant. With more than 27 awards, and counting, it is officially the most awarded cannabis strain on the market . AK47 seeds are copied a lot, or used by other seed companies to upgrade crosses. This plant is of medium height and produces very good yields quite quickly. Extremely STRONG odour and smoke.

Description

This easy to grow plant is our most popular, because of her outstanding quality. The AK47 strain has been often copied or used by other seed companies for crosses.

This plant is of medium height and produces very good yields quite quickly. Extremely STRONG odour and smoke. Take extra care for odour control when growing near neighbours!

The name was given not out of any idea of violence, but more in association with the ‘one hit wonder’ that the smoke is. After its introduction visitors to coffeeshops in Amsterdam regularly passed out after a hit of the AK47. Quality without compromise makes AK47 seeds suitable for commercial or home-grows. For a mostly Sativa cross these plants have a short flowering period, producing compact buds with few leaves that gleam with a coat of resin crystals.

Winning 27 awards(!!!) in Cannabis competitions proves it is a favourite to grow as well as to smoke.

She delivers a very strong, long-lasting and pleasant High. In 1999 at the Cannabis Cup, an independent lab test proved AK47 weed had the highest THC-percentage of all entries that year. Medicinal plant excellent for pain-relief.

Latest awards won by AK47: 2nd prize in category: 'Bio-Weed' at the HighLife Cup 2016 in Amsterdam, Netherlands and 2nd prize in category: 'Indoor' at the Copa Cata Zona Norte 2017 in Argentina and 2nd prize in category: 'Sativa' at the 3rd Great Canadian Canna Cup in Canada in 2018.

Supposedly serious lost the male parent or something along those lines a while back. Growers have said the ak-47 they have now pales in comparison to what you were growing 20 years ago. I grew serious's ak like 5- 6 years ago and still found it fire. It was pretty stable, threw good trichome production, yielded very well and absolutely reeked.

Oh gosh, I wonder if our Kali Mists are sisters? Mine is about a week older than yours lol! Super excited to see your grow Hobbes, I'm hoping to do KM justice, but my setup is all new-light, soil, blusoak watering system, so I'm just hoping to see it through to the end. Good luck on your grow! I'll def keep an eye on it. Love Serious Seeds.

Hahaha...so obviously you've heard the myths about Kali Mist getting people in the, "mood"?
The first named strain I ever bought seeds of was Warlock by Magus Genetics...funnily enough Serious bought out Magus when they folded. I grew those seeds outside. My first indoor run was with AK47, and it was just incredible-next was Kali Mist, and I fell in love. Serious really taught me what excellent, fundamental, traditional plant breeding and selection (and skill in picking parents) can do for a strain. A lot of sativas have that effect, but Kali Mist is the queen of sativas, and she has it in spades!

Reason I wrote this is I remember someone wrote this on the forum about Kali Mist years and years ago....and they were being serious, lol.
I remember reading years ago that Kali Mist won the vote of the vast majority of women judges at a Cannabis Cup. The legend has a factual basis.

Rurumo please post some pics of your plants and a link to your grow journal if you're keeping one.

I would wager that our beans came from the same batch. How are you going to grow yours? I'm topping for 24 - 36 colas per plant in a 4x4 tent, hoping to keep the stretch down. I grew a Kali Mist in DWC, put into flower at 3" and ended up 5'. That's the one thing I remember about growing KM, other than that smooth sailing.

Here is my current group for my 4x4. The Kali Mist is back left, front left is Serious Happiness, back right is Old School Genetics-Petrol Skunk, front right is Strawberry Mist (pre 99 Kali Mist X Tijuana cut) also Old School Genetics. They've grown shockingly fast in these mini air pots with 1/3 (50/50 peat/coco), 1/3 perlite, and 1/3 castings, BUT I was in a hurry and didn't amend them, so I just top dressed in 1/2 teaspoon of oyster shell and also some gypsum. I topped them off with some random leftovers from different coco bags I had sitting around, hence the different "look" to the medium, lol. IMG_20210425_093319900_HDR.jpg
I'm seeing slight mag def, so I'm also giving them a pinch of epsom salts per liter of nutrient solution, which is just 1 ml old age grow and some liquid seaweed and fulvic. They're growing so much faster than my last grow in straight coco, it's unbelievable. These are just about a week old I think. I will definitely link my grow journal here once I start it. Problem is, I need to let the soil I mixed on 4/20 sit for another 3 weeks before I can set up my 4x4 tent again, then I need to figure out the blusoak hose system I got for it. I'll probably start the journal around then. I'm also using a Medic Grow Fold 8 light for it and I know a bunch of people want to see a grow journal for that too. I'm also not sure if I'm going to save these and grow out clones or just save the clones-it's going to come down to timing. I don't want to veg the KM too long compared to the others because the size dif is already going to be a nightmare in a 4x4 bed vs pots you can raise or lower.

I used to get some really nice Warlock lbs from Humboldt, what a great strain. I've looked for it recently to no avail.

The Serious Happiness I'm growing now is Warlock x AK47, but now I'm regretting not growing out one of each of those too. I've been growing out a lot of nostalgia strains lately, like I'm harvesting a Hawaiian Snow tomorrow (One of the best mothers I've found was a HS from 2003, died in a fire a few years later). Warlock kept me and my little group of homies laughing our asses off all through High School! It was one of the best strains I've ever tried for that uplifted feeling where you almost die laughing at an episode of Rocky and Bullwinkle or something. So I saw that name "Serious Happiness" which is extremely corny, and I thought...I wonder if it still has that same effect after all these years?
