im doing my first grow right now. and im wondering if this would be good... its getting closer to winter now and the weather is getting colder. So i want to put my plants in the craw space(by the way my plants are like 1 week from the seed) there is a corner there that is about 6ft in width and about 4 1/2 ft in hight i was planning to get about 3-4 ultra-vilot lights from wal-mart and putting them over the plants, and the walls are gray blocks...
Any suggjestions would be helpful thanks:eyesmoke:
 
Soil or hydro? What type of seed genetics? You should look into HID lights. You can get a nice 150 wattt setup for cheap.
If going with other lights, Use CFL's both spectrums, and get about 4-6 of each. so 8-12 lights.
 
as for the gray blocks, You could hang a white sheet up there for some added refelectivity. Or you can go all out and buy visqueen plastic from home depot or somewhere like that. And cover all the walls with that. Ive heard its one of the most reflective surfaces. If using lower watt CFLs you will want to be reflecting as much light as you can. as well as get them as close to the plants as possible.

yea i was planning to paint the walls white or just get some white sheets but thanks for the advice rep 4 u

they are in soil, and not sure about there genetics
 
Well where did you get your seeds from? bagseed? I would recommend you go with a soiless mix, and add nutrients as you go. This way it is alot easier to control what you want your plant to have. and thus a bigger and better yield. Pro mix BX is great. Botanicare or foxfarm nutes. Have you completely decided on going with Fluorescents?

i bought the seeds from my friends friend, and i kinda a newbie whats bagseed? and what do you mean by a soilless mix? and 1 more thing what kind of nuetrients would you sugjest?

You should read up on here on RIU...search the forums and read read read...FAQ's has a great forum there...GL...
