Just tried edibles

I normally avoid dispensaries and whatever it is they sell. Been smoking for 40 years, growing almost that long. The other day I had a few bucks and went online to see what was 'special' at dispensaries. Almost giving up I found someone selling chocolate bars with "regulated" dosages. So I bit. In bringing it home the marking said each triangle was 5 mg. Ok, so I consulted a dosage chart and decided I would take 10 mg first time. As I let it melt in my mouth I had a couple swigs of red wine.

Worked great, got high in about 15 minutes. Seems wine helps it into your bloodstream and on to your liver. Lasted at least 3 hours, and I went to sleep. Next day I decided in late afternoon to try 5 mg in a cup of coffee. Also gave a milder buzz which I completely appreciated.

Maybe all dispensaries are not loaded with crap quality product dispensed by lying little kids. I know I'm going to find another chocolate bar when I'm done with this one.

Just tried edibles.
I tried 'em from the dispo, ate the whole bar. Nothing.
Bought a bottle of canna soda. Nothing.
Bought some stuff called nectar drops, i think it may
have couch locked me for awhile, but not sure.

Interesting that the drops were supposedly tincture,
altho it says, "MCT OIL, Cannabis Oil, w/Terpenes, and natural flavor blend."
So, I dunno if it's tinc or edible, tho, recipe'd be tinc, yeah?
Got 3 more vials of that stuff. So i soaked a joint with it, didn't seem to do anything.

Now the OP said he got high in 15 mins, was high 3 hrs.
That's how you'd react with a toke of some good bud.
But I have been high on edibles in decades past, for 8 or 10 hrs, WAY too high.
And it took WAY too long to get off, too. So, I ain't sure about all this lately.

Someone better will come along and explain it but yes some people don’t get affected by eating it.

as someone who has experimented with a lot of dispo edibles - buy a few different brands. Some edibles I can take 100mg no problem, where some edibles 20mg is all I need. Start remembering brands, some actually care about their reputation. Bad brands will just rename themselves every so often.

I would avoid anything like tinctures, syrups, and sodas. they tend to be the most disappointing. I would also avoid any brand that looks like a generic knock off; ie bright colors, cookies, or just general basic stoner bitch stuff.

baked goods, chocolate, and gummies (a lot of bad gummies out there too) tend to pack a better punch and are easier to dose. Those quick acting edibles that get absorbed via blood are the shit as well. Usually costs a lil more but worth it.

Ive tried several types of gummies but none of that shit gets me as high as when I decarb a couple grams of my homegrown and make chocolate pudding with the cannabutter. I fkd up and ate some last year before lunch and I was so fucked up still at 3 waiting for my kid at the bus stop that i bout nodded off. Stayed high all evening. Ive not found anything from the dispensaries that does that. Granted I dont have alot of selection cause it comes from out of state. Maybe its just me but i like my home made edibles better.

Same with me. I get high anywhere from 45 minutes to 3 hours later and if taken at night i'll wake up the next day sometimes high as hell.

I rarely buy edibles though. I just eat a bit from my ABV jar. Works the same.

I wonder if it is a genetic thing that although you can get high from smoking that edibles don't work for you. Could be that your receptors are not responsive to cannabinoids in your gut. I really don't know and would be skeptical of anyone who definitely says they do. But something to think about.

I think it may be simple body chemistry. Some peoples bodies just dont break it down right. Just like how drinking grapefruit juice can deactivate/ overactivate some drugs, maybe some people dont have the necessary enzymes present in quantities enough to break it down. Our bodies are factories but there are some foods and drugs individuals cant process. My wife cant digest broccolli and pineapple. With me i cant eat magic mushrooms unless i make a tea. If i just eat dry mushrooms i puke em up a couple hours later rehydrated but undigested. And definitely not high

They have been saying (on some threads) that it could have something to do with the liver. Smoking goes straight to the lungs. On the other hand edibles go through the digestive tract and THC gets converted to 10 hydroxy by the liver. I've been reading that people that don't get high from edibles may not be processing it in their liver. A couple articles recommended getting it checked. I don't know. Just passing on what ii read.

That totally makes sense to me. Logical too.

Interesting.

I make gummies that destroy most of the hard-core tokers who've been smoking years and yet every so often don't touch the odd person that has a normally low tolerance.

Like one guy who's got high tolerance can have 1 gummy at 10mg and be ruined all night and another guy can neck the whole 200mg pack and not feel a thing.
