Add ya cal/mag before ya add ya nutes . I add cal/mag and let it mix for a hour before I add nutes . I only use it as and when needed but some ppl use every watering.

I will say that you should start simple. Get the best soil you can or I hesitate to say go with coco which can be somewhat more difficult for a beginner. A simple 2 - 3 part nutrient and skip any additives.

I can't recommend soil or nutrients as I'm in the US and have found that much of what we can get here is not available in your country. So when people start saying use this or that try that you may not find those products available to you. Hopefully you'll get some UK people to help you out with what's available.
