Just Started My Seed

Received my Aerogarden 3 yesterday. I started 1 seed just to check it out, covered the other 2 holes with foil. Using Aero nuted untill flower then I think I'll switch to a better flowering nute. Any tips? How long can it take to sprout? I know it's a "waiting game," just curious.

Chief: look in the filler/inspection port and make sure there's no extra light getting in. A/G sells some plugs that are better than anything I've been able to come up with. Light = algae and you don't want that.

Make sure you put an active air stone in your reservoir. The ones they sell at the 99 cents store fit fine in an A/G and the 5 gallon aquarium air pump from Walmart works great in it. Don't forget to use the one way check valve that comes with it.

I hope you're not using their nutes? They're great for culinary herbs but not for what we're growing. If you're close to a hydro store take a look at Technaflora's, "Recipe for Success." I use it from seed germination to harvest. You can buy a sample kit for about $30 and it'll last you a long time with an Aerogarden. I hope that helps. HSA

Thanks HSA.
I covered the AG base (holes not in use and around) with foil so no light can get in. As far as nutes, im not using any to start (i read not to for 1st 2 weeks) then i plan on using AG nutes for veg and buying some BLOOM nutes if and when i get that far. I also plan on surrounding AG with mylar or foil once i get to Bloom so as to boost the light aspect.

Chief: are you using the A.G-3? The three hole, single lamp on a 12 " stand, without a recirculating pump? It has an even tinier reservoir than the standard A/G's. I bought one for my wife to grow her culinary herbs but I never tried Ganja in it. I grow with three A/G "Classic," seven holes models and two plants in each is about all you can squeeze in there without problems. What strain are you trying to grow? Please keep us posted on you progress. HSA

Yes thats the one...just used 1 Super Silver Haze seed. Experimenting, before investing in something bigger, also its cheap to run and I cant run up my electricity. I plan on making little modifications here and there. just ordered an airstone. I'll keep you posted and try to figure out to post pics (not very computer savvy).
