how far away are your lights purple stems can mean a couple things either a nute deficiency or you got some stretch because your plants aren't getting enough light

plants ok i had purple stem at the beg. turnd green as soon as it got bigger...

yeah, sounds like it's stretching, I like to use florencents for the begining stages. not to say that metal halides aren't good for it. they just seem harder to start with.
