Just saying Hi and looking for opinions.

I been trolling these forums for a month or so now and have not felt properly informed enough to make a post until now, at which point i want to say hi and join the community in search of more information to better my growing and contribute to the popularity of home grown in the US.

I am currently in the middle of my, i guess you would call it my first and second grow. (i have no digital camera but my phone has a pretty good one on it and i recently found out how to send pic from it to my comp lol) So that being said i will be posting pics soon for you all to see and laugh at =).

Grow 1:

just recently started smoking again when i was hanging out with an old friend he had some bud while we were fishing. picked up a few of the seeds he was throwing out just out of curiosity. I got home later and put them on a wet paper towel to see what would happen and much to my surprise 3 of them poped open and had a little root coming out a few days later. I obviously had no soil lights or anything else associated with growing so i stuck all 3 of them into some worm dirt i had left over from fishing the day before. 1 came up 2 did not. having no lights i sat it my bathroom where 4 60 watt incandescents were over the mirror and about 4 foot from the sink i sat them by. within a day or 2 the little thing grew to about 4 inches and was flopping over all over the place. i tried to take it out in the sun as much as possible but it wasn't really helping so i started reading. i went and got a bigger pot and some mericale grow seed starting soil repotted it and put it under 2 23 watt warm white cfls in a lamp i had. (at this time i knew nothing about soils, color temps or light types, i just knew i had heard floros worked for growing) i also put a small fan in the room and buried 2.5 - 3 inches of the stem when i repotted to help it get better support. this worked fairly well. about 2 weeks after that i had to load it in my car and haul it to a friends house to stay while i moved, the plant received poor care while it was there including leaves burnt by light and no fan or regard for temp. I got it back a few days later and trimmed up the damaged leaves and began to add more lights as it was about 8 inches tall by this point. (this was 2 weeks ago) At this point i was getting pretty excited that it was actually growing good so i went to lowes and bought 4 more 23 watt 6500k bulbs and some reflectors (had been reading some more lol) i also put some more bad seeds i had collected over the last few weeks in to germ. it was then under 4 23 watt 6500k bulbs and surrounded by 3 more 23 watt 2700-3000k bulbs and i had begun to feed it (yeah laugh now) Mericale Grow at 1/2 strength (it was the only thing they had at the local super stores). after 2 weeks in these conditions i haw have 5 seedlings (about a week old) that look great and one plant about 14" tall with about 6-8 active nodes that are growing stems (i say active because some of the early nodes just grew little sprouts that never grew any more and just sit there) the only prob i have had as of yet is my stems are very purple (almost from the very beginning) and just recently some of the larger fan leaves have slightly curled under on the sides. the plants now get 17 hours of light a day, on a timer (earlier in the grow it was much more questionable as i didn't have a timer and was moving it a lot) and i water every 2 days typically have 2 fans on (one on the big plant and 1 on the smaller ones) and keep the temp pretty solid between 85 and 76 F.

there was my intro and catch up =)

last night i bought 2 68 watt (300 watt equiv) 2700K blubs from home depot with hopes of flowering it soon using a combination of the 2 68 watters above and surrounded with 4-6 23 watt 2700K bulbs around it. and moving the seedlings to another closet with the 4 6500k 23 watt bulbs. and switching over to a lower N and higher potassium phosphate nute.

ill get the pics up as soon as possible but i would love some feedback and suggestions.

also how big is it gonna get when i start the flowering? im pretty sure i waited too long but....im new to this. Also my plants seem to be taller and less bushy than most of the stuff other ppl are posting yet still don't seem too weak or unhealthy, this has been puzzling me for some time. How can i get them to grow short and bushier.

EDIT: looking over this OMG i am so sry for the wall of text i will try to fix it after lunch.

Pics from before it took it to my friends house about 2. weeks ago. plant was around 2-3 weeks in the largest pic others were from earlier.

took some pics last night and will have them up soon. about 6-7 weeks now

here are 2 more pics one is from about week 3 or 4, the other is from last night.

Why is mine all pyramid with shorter stems and all the other ones on here all bushy and shot with stems at tall as the tops?

still a couple more pics coming

and last question, around the node on the big plant some little bud like things are forming, i can't tell at all weather they resemble a male or female but its still on static 17/7 light/dark per day.

any tips on the leaves or stems or suggestions to get my plants grow bushier with longer stems like the others on this site. my leaves also seem a bit broader than most of the others but i would guess that is dew me not monitoring the humidity at all.

you can see on the side my 5 new ones that are about 10-12 days old but like my first one they quickly jumped up to about 3 inches tall b4 doing much of any leaf growth and just don't look bushy like everyone else's do.

the one other strange thing about this plant compared to others on this site is that it is just starting to have alternation nodes/fan leaves. they were paired all the way up to about 12 inches tall. Is that as unusual as it seems?

I grow aero-hydro, but w/CFLs. I can help w/the CFLs. I suggest you read some grow journals as well to help you along..
