I've been working on my sip for about 8 months or so! only thing I need to add is a clear hose on the side so I can tell how much water is in the rez! I've made a few of them, but mostly are the same just playing with the measurements of rez, and trying out different wicking cups, so far I've found the hydro basket pots work great but you need some type of cloth or screen with them!

it's a sip the pics should explain itself!

i have been gathering my supplies for a grow room makeover and i am thinking SIP is the way to go. i was thinking about making the 5 gallon buck ones to get my feet wet with SIPs before building a 4'x4' no till SIP.
been thinking about cutting the top several inches of a junk 5 gallon pail to use as a spacer so i dont have to have a block or something taking away water space. somain pail with soil will slide into the cut off ring, then slide into the water pail.

I just cut a 4 inch pvc pipe in half i had laying around for a spacer.

Worked fine . Anything plastic man.

And yeah these 5gals are just for fun.

Ive got 17gal totes, one plant per tote. Theyre colonizing while my flower room finishes

yeah i have enough stuff to probably make at least four. i just have to make some time and wait for this crop to finish up. its time for a deep clean in the grow area so i want all my plants done and gone before i clean.

from the info I've been able to find on sips(bc there isn't alot) the 5g buckets do work very well, not so much for the probiotic way, and not for very big girls, but it is a good way to test and see if ita for you!
I also use the 20g"ish" totes and can grow some beastly girls! with the probiotics there is zero maintenance, just fill her up and watch it blow up! thats why I like it so much, dbl growth as reg organics, and zero maintenance once it's set up! if u guys haven't already search for my journal I've made 2 so far, they have links and just about all the info I've been able to find over the last 6 months!

I use a sip in my tent. I have a 4x4 planter bed sitting on top of a 4x4 tub filled with grow stones. Works great for me
Pretty much what i am going to do. 4x4 smart pot (raised bed) but i want to go with the wicks. Well until i change my mind.
5 gallon SIP will be me testing it out, then will be used for veggies, maybe a mother if i start keeping one again.

I dont have a wick at all. the Smart pot is fabric so it soaks water, and the soil soaks it up. Besides eventually the roots just grow out of the bag down into the water themselves.
