Just checking the timing

Just curious what you guys have to say. I've done a few grows with so pretty good results in the past however this was using autoflowers. I am now growing photos but there just a few things I'm not sure about. I read alot about the flower stretch. Some say 2x some say 3x the stretch but truly I'm just not sure. So here's some pics what do you all think? If I flip now and say only 3 out of 5 end up being female will I fill my tent? Just not sure. I'm almost on week 7 which just seems like a lot of veg to me... But I also don't want to flip to soon and risk yeild.

They are short but they are well spread out I would flip them as long as they been in them pots/bags for a good few weeks. Are there no preflowers yet to try see what sex they are? If I knew I only had 2 girls I would prob veg longer if I had 3 I would be thinking about flipping soon if I had four or five I would flip straight away. I think it’s safe to say you have short squat plants and will probably double at least in height a couple weeks into flower but you never know for sure they might triple

You could flip now no problem. But i would veg them some more. Thats a big tent you have. I would fill it out more. Your yield will improve the bigger your canopy is. But again its upto you

Agreed. I'd much rather have a dozen plants in there and worst case, cull a few females to make space than plant a low number and potentially get sod all. Even if all 5 of those were female you'd have a good bit of unused space once out of the stretch and flowering.

And I wouldn't worry too much about them potentially becoming too big. You can always trim or supercrop etc if needs must.
 
Veg a few more weeks! Ideally you want to see 12-18” in height before flipping. With that space, I would train them out to about 18”x18” then flip. You will definitely be happy with your yield them, and you will address any height issues you could run into during stretch. For what it’s worth, indicas generally don’t stretch much, and the longer you veg them the less stretch you will see as well.
 
Yep it's true. Sativa doms typically stretch out more than indicas but there is something you can do about it. A cool way to reduce stretch while also increasing the amount of nodal areas where buds will grow is to slowly reduce the hours of daylight over several weeks. Your plants will preflower and eventually begin to flower and veg at the same time which makes for nice long solid colas later on. Adds a few g per cola to boot.
The sun doesn't go from 18 hours of daylight straight down to 12; it happens gradually over the summer. That's why outdoor plants in full sun have those tight spaces between nodes which makes nice fat colas. Try reducing the hours of light by 1 hour per week; go from say 18/6 to 17/7 and so on and so forth. etc etc...some strains will begin to throw pistils at less than 14 hrs of light so 15/11 is about where you want to flip them. You can then go right to 12/12 from there to begin the bloom cycle or keep dropping the light hours gradually. They keep on growing weeks into 12/12 but without as much wasted space between the branches. No matter what you do your plants are trained nicely and would benefit from 3 more weeks of veg IMO; whether you decide to try this or not. Good luck & happy growing!!!
 
The only reason i didnt start with 20 plants and weed out males like i would have perfered to cut veg time is i only had like 9 seeds and they came from a close friend who recently passed so i am attempting to grow the strains and clone them. kind of a memorial of sorts. i basicly need to know that 3 of them minimum with fill the entire canopy as i aim for larger yields. im just not familiar with the stretch rates of photos
 
thank you everyone for the replies. so i gather i need more veg time. any ideas on how long? they are already on week 7....

Amazing you said this, exactly what I found out during this grow! My lighting schedule was 24/0 2 weeks, 22/0 for 3 weeks then 3 weeks 20/4 before 12/12 flip. They preflowered in the 4th week, both plants.

Also what helps with stretch I found is to have warmer nights then days during the first 2/3 weeks of flowering, helped me out loads.
 
just veg it longer till you get several main branches going up and when you feel like you've got enough tops, flip it to flower,
the goal is to get your nugs closest to the light w/out burning them or harming them, thus getting big and juicy flowers. if they are too far away, then you end up with wispy, airy, unwanted size..
