What would happen if you took a plant on 12/12 and put it back on 18/6 before it began flowering?

cool i guessed it would but wanted to make sure
I used to start my plants on 12/12 so they would just start to bud and get one or two hairs, then I could differentiate the boys from the girls as I was taking them outside to plant in the woods. As soon as they showed sex I would put them under 18/6 to force them back to veg. also a dose of a high nitrogen fertilizer kicks them back too when you increase the light hours

i thought changing the lights to much might stress it into a hermie. Is this true or are people making stuff up
Just doing it that one time never caused a Herm. for me, but I had to do it so I didn't have to go back to my gardens til harvest just to try and get the males. This way I always had 0 seeds in my buds and less chance of making a path, being seen or running into game warden, cops etc. I've found that certain strains seem to be more prone to herms than others and I would not ever use those strains once I found them. Like tckfui said if you really stress them you can make em go that way. But not just once on something that has hardly begun to bud.
