GULFPORT, Fla. - A 14-year-old boy was arrested after dialing a wrong number and offering to sell drugs to the person on the other end _ who happened to be a police detective.

After the call, Gulfport detective Matt Parks arranged to meet the teen in the parking lot of a school to buy an ounce of marijuana and some crack cocaine, a police report said. When the boy showed up Sunday, he was arrested on charges of possession of 18 grams of marijuana with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school.

The 22-year-old driver of the car the boy was riding in was arrested as a principal, as well as for driving with a suspended license.

Parks' phone number is unlisted, and there were no similar phone numbers found in the boy's cell phone, police said. Detectives said the boy, whose name was not released, likely dialed a random number to try to drum up new business.

Parks said Tuesday that the boy has been released from custody.

Just some idiot
wow thats why kids should never try to sell drugs, theyll do retarded shit like this and get caught
No that's why they need to legalize it. Seriously the kid was an idiot but he's 14 and now he's going to get put through the system for being young and stupid and probably come out worse on the other end.

Aren't school zones a double whammy?

In some US states...the school zone thing was added because people werent getting enough time when caught "hand2hand" dealling. Whats crazy is....in most East Coast major cities....anywhere in the city is within 1000 yrds of a school.

So if they nab you with product on you....you'll get that charge too. A 2nd offense of getting caught near a SZ and you can say bye bye for at least 3-5yrs. No matter what it is you had on you....even just a spliff for personal smoke.

Im sure that narc set the meeting in a school yard for a reason...to add fuel to the fire.

A few people I know got busted and the cops always make you meet in a school zone so the penalty is larger.....
