Its just too Hot!

I have a 400w MH light in my attic space - but the temperatures range from 32-38 degrees C.. I now have a pedestall fan there but it just pushing the hot air around.

I have an air vent coming into the loft space - I think it may help to put a 4 inch fan and ducting directed to the grow area?

The light managed to disable three of the seedlings so far due to it being to hot - this was at 8-12 inches away, but I am now resorting to putting the light over two foot away to keep the heat down - but I dont want these to be stringers.. ducting??

Hmm... would it pay to enclose the grow area with direct outside ducting in, then venting into the loft space?

2 feet is fine for younlings, they wont get too stringy. Any way you can get an a/c unit in there? It hasnt even reached the hot months yet, and that attic will surely heat up more. Or even run an a/c unit in the main part of house and duct the cold air in from the unit to the attic and vent old air out. You will have to do something.

i would say your best bet is to build an enclose area and intake outside air and exhaust from the small grow room, if you use a smaller intake like a 3 inch fan and use a 6 inch fan with ducting for exhaust to another room or the other side of the attic you should have no more problems with heat...well good luck

Thanks, I definately need to get the temp down, I should be able to get the area closed of with pond sheeting or something and vent from the 4inch ducting going through the roof - this should draw nice fresh air into the area and vent into the loft space. Nice idea with using the larger vent - I didnt think of that..

I have moved them to the conservatory for now until i get the ducting set up - otherwise I end up with no plants surviving. Hopefully this will perk them up a bit. Should I get some nutrients in there to bring them back to life? they are starting to go limp and discolour (apart from one).

if you've moved them to a cooler place they should be perking right up without all that heat...nutes can actually burn your plant...not like actually burn them but harms the plant bad...if you do decide to place your plant on nutes which is a great idea if you want to yield alot, then start with a one half or one quater dose, as not to nute burn your plants....slowley work them up to full nute serving...welp g2g
