Israel, What Should They Do?

So Isreal says they pre-emptively attacked... What were they defending against? Was there an army amassed? Battle plans found? I dont know a ton about the conflict, someone help me out here... I feel like I'm missing something important.

All the Palestinians need to stop pretending that the Ottoman Empire and it's borders mean a goddamn thing anymore. The lines have been drawn long ago and ever since the Balfour Documents Israel has been in the making.

More over, if they are threatening to attack, attacking, or standing by idly while non-affiliated citizens attack Israel, then they should be willing to accept whatever happens after that.

Regarding Israel, stop pretending that you are God's gift to occupying powers. White phosphorus? Really? There's defending yourself and then there's asking for it. Secondly stop being so defiant with the US. We pay for so much shit it's not even funny. We are paying for them to cooperate with the Palestinians and Vise Versa.

George Mitchell:
"We consider this 30 billion dollars in assistance to Israel to be an investment in peace - in
long-term peace. Peace will not be made without strength. Peace will not be made without
Israel being strong in the future. Of course, our objective as a country and our specific
objective as a government is to contribute to that peace, a peace between Israel and the
Palestinian people, the creation of an independent Palestinian state willing to live side by
side"

The entire middle east is in a formative state, with nothing certain. I feel that it is Israels time to throw a bone out there in this mess to show that there is a way forward for Arabs to run their own governments AND coexist with Israel. Offering an independent Palestinian state is a way to calm a lot of heat out there (does it have to be the 1967 borders? who knows)...and especially cool down the all around angst in the middle east. In return, the Israeli's should be given two things: a) free trade with its surrounding countries (oil) to help its economic independence and that of its neighbors - b) military bases in surrounding countries.

At least thats a start...

It was a groundswell of popular support amongst the people of Israel's neighbors, rhetoric coming from the leaders of those countries, etc. They were right, eventually they would have been attacked if they didn't do something first.

I understand why they started with the settlements. Must have seemed like the only way. But now they are only making things worse. Israel is not at serious risk of being taken over. They are clearly just trying to settle all Palestinian territory at this point. They are making the long term bet that if they can stall of any progress in negotiations eventually they will be successful in settling all of Palestine. Israel doesn't want peace. The other problem is Hamas doesn't want peace either.

Hard to force peace when there are large elements on both sides that don't want peace and will do anything to stop the process.

they need to give palistein its own separate state and stop killing them...might be a good start to actually preventing bombers? kinda like we need to stop invading muslims, Idk if we didn't invade them I kinda think a lot of the violence would stop, give them what they want and get out of their land thats how I feel, I don't think many jihadist are about taking over the world they just want to repel invaders.

Me thinks Isreal as a country has done some of the exact same things to Arabs that Nazi Germany under Hitler did to Jews during WWII.....If we only knew the half of it.....I know very little from some reading on the subject and it scared the shite out of me.

Hold up...you mention the 6 Day War and dont mention context AT ALL. You forgot to mention that Israel were GIVEN that piece of land in 1947, before which it belonged to the Palestinians.

EVEN IF they attacked Israel provoking the 6 Day War, I see this as a liberation movement trying to free their occupied lands, not as an "unprovoked" attack.

Israel should accept the 1967 borders (with mutually agreed land swaps) and thank God that they got such a good deal.

If Japan had successfully invaded the USA in WWII/Hitler the rest of Europe, would you think differently about removing the occupying force from your lands?

Im so sick of Israelis justifying their litany of crimes by crying "holocaust".

Read up on how many illegal activities Israel has conducted in the just last two years; forgery of foreign documents for the purpose of assassinating a political enemy, use of illegal munitions during Operation Cast Lead/the operation itself, the blockade of the Gaza Strip, piracy in international waters, murder...

NOONE can justify those sort of acts and even the vast majority of non-hardline Israelis/Zionists are beginning to realise that they are now the abuser rather than the abused.

They need to make peace and develop a mutual respect with their neighbours, its the key to the defense of their way of life, cos some day they're gonna stomp in a bigger pile of shit than they can manage, and even the US administration (their key protectors) is starting to lose its appetite for the status quo and the fact their inaction/defense of Israel is costing MANY lives. Its time for the Israelis to look forward to forging a future than looking at what happened to them in the past.

For example the Irish just had the British Queen for a state visit (the head of State from a country that occupied, tortured, killed and forced millions to emigrate for 700+ years)...if thats not what Israel need to look at as a template for their future international relations, I dont know what is!

Reconciliation and peace are what the world needs, not more fighting and it is achievable but not on their (almost somewhat Nazi-like) current path.

EDIT: And the first person to call me Anti-Semetic is getting reported, NOTHING Iv said above is deregoritary to the Jewish people for their religion, I merely made some comparisons to the past for context.
