Island DIY: Kauai residents don't wait for state to repair road

Their livelihood was being threatened, and they were tired of waiting for government help, so business owners and residents on Hawaii's Kauai island pulled together and completed a $4 million repair job to a state park -- for free.

The state Department of Land and Natural Resources had estimated that the damage would cost $4 million to fix, money the agency doesn't have, according to a news release from department Chairwoman Laura Thielen.v

And after only eight days, all of the repairs were done, Pleas said. It was a shockingly quick fix to a problem that may have taken much longer if they waited for state money to funnel in.

Let's elect these guys to office. Seems like they can get shit done.

They should all be arrested.

(Not that I really think they did something wrong, but it's against the law for citizens to make any repairs or modifications to state and federal roads and other property themselves under any circumstances.)

Nobody should be able to pick and choose which laws are enforced or not. We get that sob story all the time about how "I'm just doing my job" and "We don't make the laws we just enforce them".

They should be equally as hard on everyone and these folks have just publicly admitted a crime.

Yes arrest them for saving the government 4 million dollars and 3 years of jerking off.

I maintain that we vote these guys into office.

God No!

Let them continue to do what they are doing.

And how the hell can it be a Federal Crime if they restored it to its original state? (more or less.)

That's not modifying it.

And even if they did modify it. Seeings as how the government is owned by us, and not the other way around, then we should have the right to do anything to OUR PROPERTY that we want.

Government Property, bah,

Might as well bow to the government officials if you're going to acknowledge that stupidity.

The reason I say that is because of the stupid shit we are prosecuted for. Filling in a pothole in front of your house is illegal if it's on a state or federal road and not your own private property.

All these dumb fucking laws and huge guvmnt, that's why I say arrest them. Bring all these stupid laws into light so these policies are ended.

More experience of your politics did not lend me the ability to realize that.

I was being sarcastic at Oregon Meds.

I think we should send those guys to work in the big white buildings in DC. They sound like a bunch of go getters that git 'er done.
