Is this too big?

Hey guys,

so my plan went from running 3 plants in 5gal hydro buckets to 6 in a DWC bucket and possibly more for clones.

i just bought an 18 gal bucket tonight and i think 18 gal is going to be a little bit too big?

heres a pic, let me know

Yeah its fine, I think he means not to use foil as reflective walls(causes hot spots). I did the tape thing also but was pointless because no light hit the tape after a few weeks in veg
 
ok thanks guys, heres another question, on this one should i fill it up until just below the rockwool and have the bubbles keep the rock wool wet? i just dont have the money/ dont want to make a sprayer if its not needed


also if i make another DWc box for clones that is much smaller and i put them in 2 or 3in net pots how do you guys transfer them to a bigger pot or should i just clone then put them directly in a 4 inch pot?
 
as long as you have airstones itll be fine. My water is 7 inches below my NETS in need of refill but theirs still 5gal in res. so im fine till tonight
 
ok i will go get another lid then. should i keep the 18 gallon bucket or get a smaller one? i guess i make 2 4 pot buckets
 
Check out FloGrow's thread he is using coolers. I can maintain my reservoir temps under 70F for 2 days using insulated attic board for roofing and a cooler using some frozen water bottles. I have my mother in this setup. If you can rock 2 400W go for it, I have a 250W and a 400W my 400W puts out some heat I can for sure get the 250W closer to my plant.
 
2 400w would be good. 2 600w would be better.. or just get 1 600w, with a digital ballast made for 2x. then when you have the money get a 2nd 600. MAKE THE 400w Club cry
 
Coolers are the way to go if temps r a prob. Be careful cramming too many plants though. I have 2 out of my cooler now and honestly will prob only do 1 plant if I do a 30 day veg. again, in hydro they grow so fckn fast room goes quick.
 
after seeing some peoples threads i am going to keep the 3 in the buckets first pictured as mothers and let them veg for awhile to get some clones out of them. then ill have 4 short riders growing in one of the 18 gal buckets and clones in the other
 
hey man i noticed you already went over to the 4 plants in one lid but you DEFINITELY could've done the 6 plants easily, check out roseman's grow/guide, he did it masterfully, with a huge yield. Cheers on what you've got goin now tho dude, you'll have lots of room for plants to grow nice and thick
 
Nah jonesy have you ever grown hydro? if he did go with 6 he would have to flower from clones or veg for short time.. cause if he were to veg a full month from lets say CLONES. Thoes plants would fall over/ be SOOO intermingled/ Topheavy/ A TIE NIGHTMARE/ and thats without topping.. these are my 4 in a 18gal res. IMAG0109.jpgIMAG0110.jpg Never topped Fim or anything. 600w. 18gal res. REAL Hydro Res. Thick black plastic, if I had a rubbermaid from walmart the LID would cave in.
