Is this bud rot?

Hi, I’ve noticed brown calyxes on the top of my buds. Does this look like bud rot to you? I could not find any useful images to compare this to. It also looks like all of the trichomes on the top buds has turned brown. But it looks green and fresh underneath the bud

I like to keep it around 45 rh maybe 55 briefly daily for less dense colas. That doesnt look like budrot. Try tugging a discolored leaf see if it comes right out. Try beding the suspect areas open nearly popping the bud apart, it can stretch surprisingly far without damaging it.

If budrot just let it go for some time it will grab your attention if it is and no doubt will be budrot. Same with powdery mildew. The fuzz just goes out of control. De-nug those suspect areas down to the nug and look closely with bright light.

Ive had that discolored suspect look recently on a new strain I tested. It didnt mold. Increasing air circulation helps, I use box fans.

Thank you. Its hard to keep it any lower than 55-65. But most of the time its at 60% which is a little to high. I tried to stretch the buds apart to get a look inside of the buds and it was green. The leaves are also green and hard to pull out. Its just the brown calyxes on top that concerned me

Temperature plays a major role in allowing botrytis to infect a plant. If your RH is 70% but temps are 80°, the chances of getting bud rot are low.

Once cannabis hits flower, a lot of growers drop their RH into the 30's and 40's to avoid bud rot. That will cut down on the chances of bud rot but RH at that level can cause a host of other issues that come from low RH.

This link might prove helpful.

I didn't see anything in those photos that looked like bud rot.

One of these got bud rot but I don't recall which one it was. As best I can tell, the culprit was temps being too low (mid-70's) and large, dense buds.

Note - I don't implicitly trust an AI bot. As a software engineer for >30 years, I realize that a computer will only do what its programmed to do so it's good to ask for citations.

In this case, chatGPT is reporting available on multiple sites in the agricultural world. I've used it here because it formats and summarizes the information well.

Thank you.

Those were Original Glue that I bought from Nirvana in 2021. Donna, the taller plant, generated a good yield even though I snapped off two of her branches. That was painful.

That grow was my last "two plants in the tent" run. I've tried that approach over the years and always ended up with a Twinz grow, from the movie with Schwarzenegger and DeVito.

I thought it was just coincidence until I asked chatGPT about it and apparently when there's >1 plant in a shared res, one of the plants will "always" dominate the grow. And that's what I've seen, repeatedly, so from now on, it'll be one a time.

This one turned out nicely, as well. I'm a strong advocate of getting plants to 1kµmol ASAP.
