Is This a Spider Mite?

I couldn't get any pictures because it's so tiny and moves so fast. It's really tiny, almost to small to see with the naked eye. Kind of a redish orange. I also noticed that on the floor around my pots there are a bunch of tiny jumping larva looking things. They are a little bigger than the redish orange bug. They look like a larva and bounce a lot. They are greyish in color.

Are these two different bugs? Are they hurting my plants? What can I do about them?

I did have a gnat problem, so I put about 1/2 of sand on the top of my soil. Someone told me that should take care of the gnat larva. The redish-orange bug wasn't on the bottom of a leaf. I've only seen 1, im sure there are more, but it was just running across the top of a leaf towards the top of the plant.
