Is this a decent light for flowering?

Regent® High Pressure Sodium Security Light (N150HNCI)

geez google it. I think it'd cook anything near it, but I may be wrong! I think it's a floodlight, they get fiercely HOT. Try a HID or go onto this site a little deeper and look up basic lights. I use flourescents so I am at a loss as to other systems

I currently have 5 flourescents, but from what I've been told here, I don't want to use those for flowering. They say i need HPS lights. :confused:
 
Looks like its a 150 watt hps light...yes, it should work but, why not spend a little more and get a 400 watt (Unless you're only growing one or two plants)?

Well.... I have 10 plants. I have about $75 to spend. This is my first grow (bag seed). If this grow go's well (already having watering issues) then I will spend more money on good seeds and lights. I am trying to get a little bit of good bud as cheap as i can to prove that i can do it. do I need HPS to do that? :confused:
 
You would need to take that plastic shit off for sure, looks as if its got an inbuilt ballast, could work. If you are just wanting to get a better yield in harvest, just shove some more CFLs in there, maybe invest in a 150 watter.
 
well, I'm still in the learning stages too. I would go with an HPS but, I saw a thread here a couple of days ago where a guy used those compact fluorescent bulbs to flower, and it looked pretty good. The way I look at it, do what you can afford....if the 75.00 is a big deal to you, then don't buy that light. Get some compact fluorescents in the 2700k range (they are cheap) and do the best you can. The results won't be the same but they will work. :peace:

this is what i have now......

I have (4) four foot florescent lights above the plants. 2 are soft white and 2 are day light. I have (1) 3 foot florescent cool white running down the middle between the 2 rows of plants that I turn on occasionally for extra light.

Will this be ok for what I'm trying to do? (get a little bit of good bud for my first grow)

There's a little bit of stretching in there. What wattage are the bulbs? I would have that middle one on all the time, and have a fan blowing between the lights and the plants (Helps keep stems strong, and keep the air good).
 
Honestly of your growing that many plants, you'd be better off to get the 400W HPS, you'll get better results...cfl's are good...but only for like 1 or 2 plants. You need too many cfl's to cover the plant to get some decent results. I am growing with cfl's, and i love them so far, but i'm only doinf one plant as an experiment...in total i am using 7 cfl's. hay that should work, i got the same setup, and my grass is growing big, but it does take a while for them to grow, but once my plants got about 4 inches, they started growing fast and i had to keep moving my flourescent(42in) lamp higher everyday. so i think u have a good setup. cuz its like mine woooooo! where cool :D
