Is there much difference in the heat temps when you switch from metal halide to hps?

I was using cfl's for a while. I switched about a month ago to HPS lighting. What a difference. They seem to grow so much faster. They also get dry easier. The heat from the metal halide bulb would dry the edges of some of the leaves and they would curl up and die. I've been watering every 2 days but sometimes I've gone as long as 2 1/2 days. Thats when I see the drying of lower leaves.Temps up to 90 in this time of year. I just switched to the hps bulb. Will the heat be considerably lower at this point?

imo...i think hps is hotter but not by much
the problem is the light is too close to the plant ,just move it away some
u wanna use hps to flower and mh to veg
consider ventilation also
