Is planting clones outdoors late in summer OK?

If I were to plant a 6 inch clone that has rooted this late in the summer (July 27th), would it still be able to produce enough bud by mid-late October to make it worth it? I've got 8 plants in the ground now, all ranging in size. The tallest is about 3 feet tall and the smallest is a seedling that has grown to about 5 inches. Will they all produce?

Clones can go straight into flower as soon as they root, yes.

But people usually like to let them veg awhile, for a bigger yield.

might have trouble with the seedling this late but the clones will produce some bud. i just put a clone in the ground last week to test this same theory and we got a huge rain storm this week and the damn thing almost doubled in hight already. in another month or so they will start to branch out for their final stretch before trying to produce buds. the seedlings may not be mature enough to produce buds by october
keep us posted with your results.

throw this in the mix, for the tallest one you have say got some slug damage. Will the plant recover in time, veg again, and then flower, all by I guess late October?

thanks for the quick replies everybody. I'm really stoked about this year. I've had past experience growing outdoors, but this year I'm taking it to another level. Started an indoor stealth cab early in the spring, and I was able to get some healthy white widow mothers going. These and a few other female seedlings have brought me to the point where I have 13 plants in multiple locations, including two superfast-growing nuted monsters in drip and bubble buckets. I was even able to grow a plant all the way through in an aerogarden, except it got root rot 6 1/2 weeks into flower. I was still able to harvest, and its great smoke, but I can just imagine how much better it could have been with enough time to fill out the buds a little more. Either way I will never have to buy another sack from a dealer again! I love America! Now if we could just legalize it...
