Is My Jar Contaminated?

Doing a small run of PF Cakes this time with my Z, just to try this simple tech out for myself, and it looks like I may have finally gotten a contaminated jar.

The 1st pic is of the Z cubensis mycelium starting to colonize. The 2nd and 3rd pics are of the suspected contamination. This white goo looking stuff appeared in that one top section of the side of the jar, as well as the entire top of the substrate under the dry Verm layer by day 2, after inoculation.

Am I seeing something normal with PF cakes, or is this jar contaminated and destined for the trash?

first pic is text book myc growth, 2nd and 3rd are a lil unconventional, but I'm 99% sure its fine. Keep an eye on it and post new pics in a couple days.

I guess I'm just use to seeing the white cottony growth spots when the spores first start up, so the thick white goo taking over the top of the substrate kind of threw me off. Didn't know if it was just a characteristic of the Z strain or a contam. This is the only jar that has the white goo, all the rest have the regular white cottony growth spots. I always PC the jars for at least 45mins @ 15psi, and I'm usually working in a pretty clean environment during inoculation. I'll keep an eye on this jar instead of throwing it out.

Thx bro. I wash my hands far too much. I'm like a surgeon during inoculation time, lol. I did forget to wash the jars out before loading them up with the PF cake mix, which was pretty stupid, but due to me being trippin stoned off some Power Kush at the time. The jars were brand new and unopened though, so it shouldn't really matter as much.

Things are going along well at room temp, and in Indirect Sunlight. I'd wager that these jars will be fully colonized in a few weeks. This Z strain is known for producing the largest amount of Aborts, of any strain. So, I'm looking forward to tripping my balls off this time, off of about 6-7g's of aborts.

Very nice my friend, I am excited to see some pics of your babies in the fruit chamber ... is that on the to do list .... so I can look forward to it ??
I think Ralph fucked me. Not gonna hate on him .... as I forgot to add my suite number on the initial order ... then I have send them extra money for re-shipping costs ,with the error correction and still no go .... this is 6 wks now. Bahh ... no sending moneys in envelopes in da future ... lol
But safety first.

P.S Yo, the attorney wants to go/build into real estate.
He wants to build this on a private island ... and drew me this ...
I told him... we are going to need some wind turbines for all our gear .... lol
One of them is your that is for sure ... free .... he had no objections.
Going to have to replace all the sleepers for boats and planes .... lol

Maybe I'll just start a Grow Log for these PF Cakes. They are colonizing incredibly fast now. Sucks what happened with your Ralphsters order, It probably wasn't him that screwed you though. Someone along the way may have recognized the package, and kept it knowing that on one would complain. I'm always kind of paranoid about sending any money through the mail, even in MO form. I've started using Spores101 now, since I can use my CC to order, and they have a shop in the US, located in Washington.

An entire mushroom community! Looks like a good design as well. If this ever manifests somewhere in a far far away time and land, I will make it a point to always come and visit at least once a year, bringing hoards of psychedelic treats for the towns people. :lol:

The jar in question still looks exactly the same, no growth or change in any way over the past 4 days from the suspected contam. The Z mycelium in that jar is taking off though. Not sure what to think about this jar.

Question about clenliness ...
Colonization ... ya I get that ...do doubt ...as clean as possible. (most critical phase ...)
During fruiting in the chamber .... can I put the chamber in the grow grow ... ??
(The grow grow would be kept extra clean .... But fans are going and outside air comes in.

yo puffer you don't want to put the shroomz with the grow(even though shroomz breath oxygen and plants exhale oxygen). The are too many contaminates that plants like and shroomz dont, one major being Trichoderma.

Thank you kind sir .... talked to some shroomers and that run that setup with success ... hence the confusion .... and I hate to loose time due to errors hence the line of questioning !! Will research further and report back !!

Turns out that the jar was indeed Not contaminated, (I had another local shroom grower I know confirm this in person today), and the regular White Cottony Mycelium is taking over this jar, and all the jars very rapidly now. Fast as I have ever seen with any strain.

Actually it is contaminated, thats why you are seening faster colinization than ever. Probably trichoderma, sorry bro but no shrooms will come from that cake

The extremely fast colonization is due to the traits of the Z strain, and is happening in all the jars, not just the possibly contaminated one. Look up Z strain on shroomery, it will tell you the same thing. The jar pictured is the only jar that has the white goo (possible contam) in it, and it is colonizing the slowest of all the jars. I'm no shroom expert by any means, just started in fact, so I can't be 100% on it, but 3 people thus far have told me this jar is fine, 2 from RIU, 1 in person. So, if you are going to say otherwise I would like some evidence of this, before I toss a possibly good jar. A link to a pictorial of contams or something like that would be good. :peace:

Here's a couple recent pics. The suspected contam still looks the same 10 days later, albeit a little drier. The mycelium is still taking over the substrate. Seems like if this was a comtam it would be spreading over time, and not staying the same. Any comments are welcome as always.
