Is it really this easy?

im using a DWC setup and this is my first grow.

My seeds are germing right now. when the seedlings have sprouted, using tweezers, i place them root down into a rockwool cube soaked in room temp distilled water. Put the rockwool on a later of hydroton inside of a net pot, then cover the rest of the cube with hydroton, fill my resivor with purified water to the bottom of the net pots. turn my air stone on. lights on, and thats it? I feel like im missing a step

If possible it get some peat plugs will speed up the seedling phase 100 X over..
Place the germed seed in the hole on top of the plug and place it flush with the hydroton about a half inch from the top of the pot..put alot of air in and place ur water about a half inch above the bottom of the pot..Place low ammitance lighting over um and bam u will have roots in the water by day 3.. I had roots in my water by day 2 this time.
This is the most effective way to germ and grow in dwc..
hope it helps
P.S Yes it really is this easy..I say leave the plug a half inch from the top of the pot, allow the seedling to grow and then cover the rest of the way with rock..Gives um support and blocks out the light.

Water temps, I have an adjustable fish tank heater in the tub, set to like 78, and I dont have a PPM meter at the moment, I used purified drinking water to fill the tub so may that not matter at this point in time? The PH is around 6. I only have test strips, and its kind of hard read. I just dip the strips in the water and thats it right?

Bro u wanna keep ur water as cool as possible. If its not going to get below 54 degrees room temp id yank the heater out immediately.
Also, I grew without a ppm meter for a while..Ph is a must man..Just remember to follow the directions on ur nute bottles carefully when feeding..Its very easy to overfeed.Especially not knowing what ur water ppm is before feeding man..Under nuting is better than overfeeding.

the rockwool cube shuld never ever be more than damp...

it should not be wet... soaked... dripping... sitting on a puddle...

never squeeze a RW cube... you will crush the very important airspaces inside of it...

A properly damp RW cube should not have ANY water come out of it when you shake it vigurously...

a salad spinner is a great wai to remove excess water from the cube without damage...

I know you are going from seed, but this thread has a ton of useful info on RW...

A batch of clones in rockwool

Enjoy!

Your res will be ok for a week or two, the seedlings have enough embryonic food to last them a week, but I would go 1/4 strength or even half strength nutes for the next (2nd ) week, then up it to half or full strength 3rd,. Do you have air stones in your res??? The more air getting to the roots the better......and you need a 1/2 of air between the net pot and the water level...other than that, youre good to go! Welcome to the club! You will find that DWC is very rewarding.....oh, one more thing, watch out for temperatures, they can and will fuck w/you. That is where the majority of the broblems start, and like "Onth0008" siad, I'd yank the waterheater unless youre growing outdoors...good advice

Man Humidity is a very arguementative thing too discuss. Mine stays around 30-40% in the flower room and never had any problems with bud rot or mold and anything of this nature..Some say u want it much lower than this tho.
In veg its much lower than that even yet.Round 15-20%.Some also say u want higher humidity for clones and seedlings and such but ive cloned in a cup of water and always got great results in 20% humidity.
Ive also cloned and raised seedlings in a dome on a heat mat @ 80-90% humidity as well..
Dont let ur humidity get too high in flower or u will have problems.
A great way to achieve this is keeping ur water COLD..Less heat = less evaporation and humidity.
Room temps are just as important as well. Mine are getting dangerously high again i dont like to see mine over 80 degrees..
I recently allowed my hps to stay too close for too long and heat stressed the shit out of my plants.
its ok to grow early stage flowering with the hps as close as possible but when the stop stretching get the lamp above those plants and allow them to bask and breath in the sun.
Make sure u have proper odor filtration as well as venting..
Hope this helps man..Just trying to keep ya from making the same mistakes i have.

Okay, so yoink the heater.

I have one pump with 12 inch airstone as of now. I have probably 3 or 4 air pumps. I mean I could easily hook those up and make it super bubbly.

I had a red container lid. I ran out of mylar for the top, do i really need something?

nah, I have a red lid too, and go a head...more bubbles! You dont want it at a rolling boil, but lots of bubbles...somewhere in between... a pic of my red lid...I had painted it brown to shed light getting into the res, but weekly water changes wont allow any alge to build up...
