is it possible to...

...detect the species of canabis plant on a cellular level?

IE: can a person look at cells through a microscope and identify the cells as being indica, sativa or ruderalis? Or hybred?

DNA, yes, but you'd need stronger than a common microscope

So then would it also be possible to identify the strain as well? And if it were a hybred would ut be possible to identify which strains it was crossed with?.

Or is that going to far?

I don't see why not

Well, where the hell are you going to find information for the strain data, just a thought.

You need data sheets with all the info.

wouldn't they have to see if there was a difference in the cell structure of the three different types couldn't they all possibly only have a cannabis cell structure?

Hey Gquebed, I don't think you can find that information by using a microscope. You would need to analyze the dna using molecular techniques like PCR and sequencing. Once you have the dna sequence of your plant, you can find out tons of info.

Maybe possible but ridiculous. You would have to have a DNA database of every landrace there ever was to even begin. That is now impossible - for a start. Stick to smoking pot and leave the meth alone.

I see the use of this technique for say, confirming the clone only ultra rare cut you just paid $2000 for, but that only works if that cut was already scanned in to the database of DNA strains in the first place. I think having this kind of database would only lead to people patenting things and then being able to prove it with DNA in court, or some other diabolical scheme of the sorts.

Can't you do that already by looking at the leaves? Spear, fat spear, long spear, fat wide, fat slender, rudy?
